ICRII Patch Problem

by Robert Yate » Sun, 21 Jul 1996 04:00:00

With great joy I installed the ICRII 1.02 patch.  A warning to all to make sure
your installing it over a new installation of ICRII.
I took all precautions running the saveall.bat file to save setups, replays and saved
races (what it doesn't do is save you current season properly).

The program ran faultlessly until I tried to load my current
championship season only to find that the previously six run
races were won by the pace car :( not only that but it had won
on 2 occasions with a broken gear box.  This was quite
stressful as I was running 6th in the championship after
playing for about 3 months.

I'll easy fix this I thought by reloading my previous season.bin file.
This did not work.  As it turns out the culprit is the
indycar.exe ver 1.02 file.  It must not like my season.bin file
because I'm running a calender that includes tracks from
Gerhard's Nascar conversion tracks.

So I decided to run ICR with the version 1 Indycar.exe file but
use all the version 1.02 track patches as well as the main.dat,
rol.dat, effects.dat etc that have changed.

I can now continue to run my season so far with no ill
effects.  Of course I don't have the benifits of the
rev warning light and the frame rate counter.

I do feel thought I have the benefit of added grip, as I've
broken my own lap record at Portland already.  And certainly
you can throw the car around a bit more without it spining.
You can get into some wild four wheel drifts now or hang the
tail out more than you could before.

Can't comment about the bug fixes as I haven't experienced
anything to anoying from from version 1 but I'll keep a look
out.

cheers

Indy racing will miss you Jeff, and lets not forgetting our marshalling
hero.
