If F355 is as good on the PS2 as it is in the arcade and on the
Dreamcast, it's a must have.  The crash physics are dodgy but the car
feels fantastic if you keep it on the pavement.  Best sim out there
that features the CART-layout of Long Beach too, at least that I'm
aware of.

World of Outlaws is also fantastic.  You can't lose with a Ratbag
game.

This has received very high ratings from reviewers (I don't have a
ps/2).  Apparently the pc version is not done by the people who did the ps/2
version however, so I'm very worried about how good it will be.

NFS Hot Pursuit 2. Way more fun than the above.

Okay, if we're allowed to plug our own games then, well then buy a copy of
NASCAR Dirt to Daytona(R) for PS2/GC in November.... ;)
Actually, I'm not sure if they're going to sell it in Europe (what you guys
don't like oval tracks and dirt racing?)--I converted it to PAL, already,
though.   How the hell do you guys over there stand those 50 Hz TVs?  The
flickering drove me nuts when I was doing the conversion... okay you get a
few extra lines of resolution, but what a cost....

I don't have a PS/2 yet Dave, but that game looks like a lot of fun.
I can't remember a game having that intriguing of a career mode since
ABC Road to Indy.

Whel, we love t o go right, maybe right turning aroud ovals would be
prefered ;o)))))

As always, US guys always think they have the best HI-FI, TV
components ;o))))

Our PAL Tvs works perfectly at 60hz , with REAL color ;o)
NTSC ??? huuuhh ?? Never The Same Color huh ???  ;o)))))

And IIRC, US doesnt have much 16/9 Tv set, what a shame ;o))))

ok, i'm not a anti-US ;o) just kidding ;o)

Despite all that is said about Race Driver here, I have a feeling there is
at least a relatively decent physics model under there. The main problem
lies in the controls I noticed, where the control system seems to be
second guessing you, "I want to turn left now", "No, you don't", "Yes I
do!", "All right, then..."

Ah, and Ash indeed did manage to shake the cops, once (the comma is
important here). The smirk was hard to delete, lasted until I beat his TVR
with the RUF in GT3 ;).

We always knew, Ash, we always knew...

Cool, but eh Nascar? ;-)
Driving around in circles can be reasonably fun, although you do need
a wheel to get good at it I think. The little mushroom PS2 controller
doesn't really give you a whole lot of sensitivity (imagine using that
to steer your real car).

Mine is 100Hz actually. :) Just double the rate. But you get used to
the frequency, really (I do lots of gameshows here and have my SGI's
set to 50Hz for that). On the other hand, 60Hz isn't that great
either.
And besides, don't just about all TV's nowadays do NTSC as well as
PAL?

Hehe. We're hardened programmers here.
I believe the bandwidth of D1 video is exactly the same for NTSC as it

doing a gameshow for the US currently (Lingo on GameShow Network
something), which is in NTSC.

It seemed overly responsive here, a bit too linear (the car just
magic-carpeted over the track). Ofcourse, that may be just because I'm
used to Racer's unstable cars. ;-)

Next thing Ash is going to implement GP4's 25Hz physics system! :)
(btw from tests with real controller systems here in Holland it seemed
that GP4 indeed had something like this for its internal frequency;
quite an achievement actually. Sorry to say it was unusable to control
the FF wheel).
