Nascar 2 N2.bat file

In order to eliminate the "Critical Error" message seen if running the
game without the CD, I edited the N2.bat file to remove the "smackply"
line. I cut and pasted the line so I could restore it if needed,
unfortunately my system froze, I had to reboot and lost the "smackply"
line. Can anyone post that line so I can get things in order. Thanks in
advance,     Jeff

smackply I:\intro.smk /U1
nascar2 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9

Next, time rename the file to something like N2.BKP and rework a copy of it.
That way you have the original to restore from.

By the way, did it work?  I'd like to figure out how to get my game to run
without the CD but, I keep getting the critical error and then the whole thing
is shot.  The only left to do is reinstall.  Of course, that was before I
started zipping the entire Nascar2 directory into a zip file and just restore
the whole thing from there.

I am currently running without the cd. The Smackply line is for the Intro movie
that is played before  the dos (non-rendition) version starts. I run the rendition
version but my son runs the regular dos version on his PC. I have completely
deleted the "smackply.exe" file in the nascar2 directory. In "N2.bat" I removed
the smackply line and added a line to install a mouse driver. You must have the
mouse driver installed (obviously).

Good luck,

I just set up 3 computers to run without the cd this weekend. One worked
without editing anything (don't ask me why- It just said "file not found"
the continued. I fixed it later). Here's the batch file:

-------

rem smackply D:\intro.smk /U1 /N
nascar2 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9

------

I would post the shortcut, but I'm a firm believer in no binaries in
discussion newsgroups. It's the "stock" shortcut anyway.

Hope this helps.

I changed my shortcut to point to Nascar2.exe
The game starts without the intro, which is what the smackply was.

Works great for me...

Seems like the simplest solution is a shortcut to nascar2.exe instead of
n2.exe. But I like the simple ways.

This may be true but, how do you handle this line then: nascar2 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5
%6 %7 %8 %9
