Thrustmaster 360 Modena, No Dual Axis ?

by Karsten Borcher » Wed, 21 Mar 2001 22:14:00

Just installed my new Thrustmaster 360 Modena Pro Wheel.
Windows98SE
First Directx 8.0, then tried Directx 8.0a.

Also tried the drivers that came with wheel (229Web), and the dptinst-219.
Did'nt manage to get Dual Axis (3 axis) support.

When using the 229Web driver :
Control Panel -> Game Devices -> Thrustmaster 360.....->Properties
I get an error. (Cant remember the exact words). But it could'nt find
something, or nothing was assigned this device.....

When using the dpinst-219 I can get to the properties, but there is nothing
about dual axis there.

What's going on here ?

Just tried it again.
Tried the dptinst-219.
Now I get the same error as with the 229Web drivers...

It claims : "Necessary support files not found".

And I tried some more.
Used the dptinst-219 again.
Now I have the Thrustmaster Property thing...
But there is no dual axis (3 axis) enable thing. Nore the Thrustmapper
button as displayed in the manuel......

Thrustmaster 360 Modena, No Dual Axis ?

I have a TM-FF which is similar to the 360, but has a shifting stick as
well as paddles and pedal setup.

On the installation disk, I used the "clean" program to erase all
entries for the joystick from the registry and such.  Then installing
the software worked fine, but I had to enable "uses hat" for the
joystick to be seen by the Game Options program.

Try to find the clean program on the CD and/or readme's and start from
there.

Jason.

I don't have that clean program.
But when I execute one of the drivers, I get an "Repair", "Modify" or
"Remove" option.
Tried all of them...Still no luck.....

Thrustmaster 360 Modena, No Dual Axis ?

by Greg » Fri, 23 Mar 2001 06:11:25

I have that wheel. Here is what I've found to work and not work,

Windows 98SE + DX8.0a :
Thrustmapper and wheel work perfectly, split axis available.

Windows 2000 + DX8.0a + SP1:
Wheel does not work properly (axis muddled and more...) outside of
Thrustmapper with Thrustmapper software installed.
Uninstalling Thrustmapper allows a standard 2-axis 8 button controller
(probably more buttons, havn't checked).
Without Thrustmapper the device cannot switch to 3-axis.

So far, I havn't followed up with TM-eu because I'm having fun in dual-axis
mode.

Someone else mentioned a TM FF wheel working fine... I've had one of them
too. It has different software than the Modena and it worked perfectly
triple-axis on the same system as above.

I might try installig the old software, maybe not much has changed from FF->
Modena 360.

Best of luck,
Greg
