: Okay, I installed the 1.00-1.02 patch. However, in order to accomplish
: this I had to give up precious Hard Disk space. Is this a ploy to force
: me into shelling out the $15.00 plus my shipping and insurance costs to
: send in the CD? ;)
: Since I will need to patch the latest edition also, will I need to do a
: complete install? Or can I save some hard disk space with a partial
: install and patch 1.01-1.02?
I guess I have found the answer to my question at Sierra's web page. It
doesn't make sense, but it appears from the following message that even
to patch the NEW 1.01 version one needs to do a complete install! What,
Sierra wants me to pay for a new CD-ROM product that needs to be patched
by doing a full install? For a product that was only out for 2 weeks!?
If this truly is the case, I don't see any reason to give Sierra my
$15.00 and my old CD-ROM. I thought one of the advantages of releasing
games on Cd-ROM was to help alleviate Hard Disk over-crowding. Or am I
supposed to go out and buy a spanking new 2.0+ gig hard drive? All this
just to install a 216k patch?
Following from the Sierra's Patch Page (http:/www.sierra.com):
icr101_2.exe (DOS, hard drive installation of version 1.0.1 only!)
216k, posted on 07/17/96
Fixes problem with mouse being automatically selected for
controls. Also fixes yellow flag problem with race order being
corrupted, and understeering problem after driving a long time.
This patch upgrades version 1.0.1 of the game to version 1.0.2.
It will not work with the CD-ROM installation of the game. If
you are uncertain about which version you have, download
icr100_2.exe instead, as it will work with both versions (1.0.0
and 1.0.1).
