They have a "Scotland Yard" with is kinda wierd for two obvious
reasons - it's not in Scotland, and they use metric measurements.

It should actally be called the London Meter.

Origin of the name 'Scotland Yard'
[quote]
1. It is said the location had been the site of a residence owned by
the Kings of Scotland before the Union and used and occupied by them
and/or their ambassadors when in London, and known as '"Scotland". The
courtyard was later used by Sir Christopher Wren and known as
"Scotland Yard".

2. Number 4 Whitehall Place backed onto a court called Great Scotland
Yard, one of three streets incorporating the words "Scotland Yard" in
its name. The street names are said to have derived from the land
being owned by a man called Scott during the Middle Ages.

<snip>

Yes. But that's The Sun, which I never buy.[1] The Guardian, which I
do buy, doesn't tend to go in for such things - in fact, the other
day it organised a public exhibition of hundreds of people on
Brighton beach, all of whom were required to keep their clothes *on*.
Many said it was a liberating and slightly shocking experience.[2]

[1] Though not for this reason, but because I used to live in
Liverpool. (For those who don't see my point, do a search on
"Hillsborough: The Truth".)

[2] No, I am not making this up.

Newtonian physics, Dave! Go get yourself a book on the subject, before
you embarrass yourself further. :)

We lose our teeth while fighting in Pubs, actually. If you meet a Brit
with all his own teeth you need to be VERY polite to him, because he
must be forking hard.

We Brits call it 'harsh banter' or 'piss taking'. If you cannot grasp
the concept then just go and *** yourself.
