The demo for MGPRS2 did the same thing for me...  Based on THAT, I can't see
how ANYONE would want it.

Funny thing - when I first heard about GPL, and the tracks that would be
included, I was SERIOUSLY in anticipation of being able to run Nurburgring.  I
actually wanted the program JUST for the 'Ring.  Now...hoo boy.  I didn't
realize it would be that TOUGH.  :-(

The thing about the ring, it ISN'T tough.

The fact is it is SO damn long.

There are equally challenging corners on EVERY track in GPL, the fact is
that the ring just has more of them on a single lap. I too bought GPL for
the ring, and I am not up to speed yet there (8:15 in honda), but I do now
have all the turns memorised and can lap consistently without trouble, but
then I think of Spa, that is for me an equally daunting track, and
personally I made more mistakes there than I do at the ring, and yet online
I get more "Well Done's!" over my spa laps that I do ring... you know why?
Cos online the ring hardly exists, I would host it myself, but being a 3 car
host there's not much  point, I love the ring, but most people seem totally
daunted by 174 turns.

For those of you who perhaps want to know:
Faviourite: Rouen.
Best (Where I am fast): Zandvoort.
Worst (Where slow): Kyalami.

I'll race you on "The Ring" any time Tim... and I ain't afraid to make it a
two hose race either (ask Mark J.). 174 corners don't scare me none... just
really hard to a take a car to it's limits there.... margin for error
approaches zero.

If you're doing 8:15, I'd say you're "up to speed", especially in a Honda.  I
got into one of your Honda only races the other day, and I had a blast.  The
car was a handfull, since I had very little experience with it and no setup,
but I did fairly well, and had a lot of fun.  That's the point, isn't it?

I love the Ring, and sit here praying for someone to host.  I've been racing
with you a few times recently Tim, put one up from time to time, and see if
anyone grows some balls.

YOU're not up to speed?  You're a full minute faster per lap than me there and
I've had a total of TWO laps that I've ever finished and gotten a time for...
I love the track though.  I just hate spinning 5 or more times per lap...

Well, you're a full THREE minutes faster than me(11:16), so it wouldn't do me
ANY good to race you.  But, maybe I'll set up a Nurburgring race on my server.
At Spa, my best is 3:33, ad Kyalami, 1:24.  In other words, I'm WAY
outclassed... :-(

My point is, I can sit here right now and tell you.... straight, drop to 2nd
for left........ stay 2nd for right, accel to 4th then brake to 2nd for
left, 3rd, then 2nd for left, then flat kink right then down to 1st for
left, then 2nd for right.......

damn i love that track!

The thing is once you have lapped it a few times it begins to get into your
head, it is HUGE fun to drive, I can easily see why Graeme Nash takes it as
his faviourite, but hell! That guy drives 8:15 in his Ferrari in PRO!

Well you should consider yourself a pretty fast driver there :)

Im a Honda-***ed GPL driver, and my BLAP is 8:25.  And I can't see where
I can get time off anymore. I was at the total limit of myself and my car.

Finally someone who is almost as slow as I am.  I think we would make a great
team Eldred! My best at Spa (the only track I really have practiced up until now)
is 3.33 too. I don't recall my "best" lap at the ring but it's not under 11mins!

It really doesn't matter to me, I love the sim anyway (especially now after
having bought the Logitech WFF!)

You must have your gear ratios set slightly lower than mine.
