I can't believe nfspu doesn't even mention the 917 in the
reference section of the game.  Someone was working on
a Can Am mod for NH, but I can't find it,  can't find a 917
download for nfspu.  The only sim I know of is scgt, and they
look great, best looking cars of all time IMO.   Any way to
use those scgt models in something like GPL, even if the
physics are wrong?   I used to have those cars with a slot
car set when I was a kid and I miss them, it's a middle aged
crazy kinda thing, I guess.  I can't find any radio control models
or anything.  It's like there was something sordid and shameful
about that era and nobody wants to talk about it.

No they can't be used in GPL.  They 'could' be used for Nascar Heat mods
or F1 2x mods.  In fact, the Can Am mod for Heat, was getting almost all of
it's cars from SCGT.  However, I think that project has been abandoned.
Haven't seen anything in quite some time.

Tom:

If you want to relive your childhood, you should invest in one of the
1/32 home slot car tracks. Companies such as Fly offer about every 917
ever produced. They look great as static, display models, too. I've
got about six of them in my office. They run about $40 a pop. There is
a hobby store/slot car track here in Las Vegas (rad-trax) that stocks
Fly's nostalgia line, including all those 917s and 512s.

oh gad you just caused a Flashback.  As a child...many many many years
ago...I had built plastic kit models of most of the Nascar drivers of the
early 70's.  I would take those cars, about 10 to 12 inches long I think,
and place them in packs on this small oval track I had from some other
racing toy...  :)  what a pathetic child I am...hehehe

You sound pretty normal to me. My buddies and I built them, covered
them with glue, then set them on fire.

Now  you're talking :)  We set em on fire and let em crash down a
hill...  after all that hard work.  M80s worked good too for the
"Driven" effects ...
