the Gulf/Wier 917's were probably the first Foreign racing cars I could
recognize(Growing up in a little town in the far Northwest of the USA, you
just didn't get much exposure to racing)
I still remember a quote by Brian Redman who claimed, something to the
effect of....the 917 was pure EVIL. We'd go down the Mulsaane straight and
never know which side of the road we were going to use next.
(guess I'll have to do some research and see if that's web'bd anywhere)

(Or a RSK/RS-60/RS-61, or a "Mikki Maus"--progenitor of the Boxter--or a
Porsche-Abarth, etc. Oh well....)

I did notice that one car is own by a "Seinfeld" is that Jerry Sienfeld
perhaps, he certainly has the dosh. I'd love one if I had the money but it's
one one the few cars I'd be too scared to drive.
I have seen several 917 and 962 1:18 scale die cast models her in the UK,
can't remember the make though. I hav't got one purely because I've run out
of room in my display cabinet.

I had the Gulf paintjob Porsche as a Tyco(or AFX) slot car. I actually had a
BUNCH of 'historic' cars, although I didn't realize it at the time... :(

It's amazing how quickly the things I took for granted as a young man have
become 'historic'.
Oh well, time for my shot of Geritol and a short nap.
