ATI 3D card?

by Kelly Ny » Thu, 21 Jun 2001 23:04:02

My office computer died a horrible death yeasterday. The replacement
'puter arriving today is a P3 1Gig machine, and comes with a "ATI 32MB
AGP 3D video card".

I'm not familiar with ATI cards at all. Am I gonna be able to run GPL on
this machine at work as well? Probably not good for my productivity, but
I'm sure it'll help my ranking...

Also, the CADD program I use (DataCAD) utilizes OpenGL for rendering.
Does the ATI card have OpenGL capabilities???

Anyone have any insights?

Well I used an ATI rage MAxx card which is (2) 32 meg cards running simular
to the v2sli. It ran GPL fine in d3d, but open gl didn't run to well. So in
answer to your your questions, Yes it should run GPL in d3d, and yes it will
run opengl-just not sure how well.

My office machine is a P-III 933 with 16MB ATI card - and it runs GPL fine
under Win2K with the D3D patch.

But don't tell the boss that :-)

(BTW - if you manage to hide a steering wheel at work I'll be very
impressed - keyboard driving is NOT easy!)

No wheel at office....

I use it mainly for looking at replays, using GPL ReplayAnalyser etc.

GPL with a keyboard is only fun in the same way that inserting a 9-day old
haddock up your nose is fun.

I'm running an ATI rage fury pro 32mb
And it runs Gp3..e-racer, Colin Mcrae 2
Combat flight simulator 1+2, falcon 4, all with no probs
Not the best card around, but works fine
Open GL and D3D both supported.......
