Jacques has a Sponsor called Players which is a Canadien
ciggarette.  Many states don't allow the sale of products which "MIGHT"
be used by minors that include Beer or Tobacco advertising.  Thus the
Penske's are not Marlboro Team Penske's and Bobby Rahal is not driving a
Miller Genuine Draft Lola but a Rahal-Hogan car.  Players is very picky
about thier exposure and I am sure they had something to with Jacques
being left out.  A blue car called "Team Green" might be ok to us but the
legal beagals at Players might not want any other product associated with
"Thier" paintjob.
Now the good news...One 1995 Indycar set is done and should be on
the Internet very soon.  Check out the Wisconsin didn't doit site and
look for ICR2 carsets.  First review of the set was positive.  It will
include the Andretti's, Tracey's and even 'ol Jacques himself.  Have fun.

Not a chance, last I heard, the F1gp2 was based on 1994 season.
However, it will only be a matter of days or weeks before the F1gp fans
come up with a shareware editor to change the drivers and paintjobs.  And
then Jacques can suit up in his Williams.

ps.  a 1995 ICR2 carset is ready and available on the WWW.  Jacques,
Andretti etc are all there.

Except they are not the SF Cancer Sticks!  Many states limit what
a "game" can contain, for example no beer or tobacco advertising in any
game that can be used by minor's.  so if Papyrus wants to put all the
cars in they not only have to pay some exorbitant licensing fees, they
would also have to create individual sets for distrubution to certain
states.  If you want to pay 150 dollars for you sim, then maybe they
could do it.

I understand the reason why Papyrus left out the Players LTD car, I was
just playing the devils advocate to the person who said "Who cares?" to
the question of why Villenue wasn't in the game. I was replying that many
people would think Vill. should be included in the game seeing how he won
the Indycar championship. And I happen to be one of them.. But I
understand why they didn't put Vill. in the game.. Although one wonders
if Grand Prix 2 will have the same problems. I'm sure they won't leave
out Micheal Shumacher and Benetton even though Benetton is sponsored by
Mild Seven, AND Bittburger (cigarettes and beer companies)

It's possible that licensing for the Villeneuve name is unobtainable.
There was NO Villeneuve merchandising at any of the IndyCar races, only
Players Ltd.  I believe that the merchadising of the name is the property
of Joann (Jacques wife), who acquired it upon Gilles death.  Anyway, I'm
not 100% sure of what the situation is, but I think there's more than
meets the eye.  It will be interesting to see if/when/how Williams brings
out Villeneuve stuff.
