I saw at EB today I could get f355 challenge for 29$ and a used Dreamcast
for $67.99 and was wondering if it was worth one hundred dollars to play
this game. Anyone who has f355 please let me know. I tried it once on
display at CompUSA and loved the feel and look of the game. Thanks.

I don't know if it's worth is, but I saw brand new Dreamcast consoles
selling for $80 at Circuit City, I too was tempted, but it there is a reason
they discontinued it...

As far as consoles go, the Dreamcast has more solid graphics than the
PS2 in many ways, IMO.  If you get the Le Mans 24 Hours [better on
Dreamcast except for the added Road Atlanta for PS2] and a way too
arcade but fun CART Flag to Flag game, and Spirit of Speed, last 2 for
$10 or so used, right there are a few more to drive around with.  F355
is considered pretty great- and pretty challenging.  It's pretty hard
work.  There are several more tracks, including Laguna Seca, which get
added through codes.

Hey, I got a brand new Dreamcast for $85 and Ferrari F355 Challenge for $20.
Fun stuff, I was suprised how realistic it was, especially for a console
game, (actually it is a sim). Real courses, LFB is critical, good driving
model, only a***pit view, good***pit movement, real tracks etc. Of
course, some things like wheelspin is dumbed down a bit, but it's overall
very good. I also have TD Le Mans and that is pretty fun with all the
championships, cars, and a great representation of Le Mans. Haven't tried
MSR yet. Anyway, I got it mostly to have something fun to play around with
and something for multiplayer when friends come over. My friends don't
particularly like spinning around in GPL at Monza doing a 2:50 while I do a
1:27 :)

Thanks,
Alex

Uh, it's a simulator.  The only view needed is the***pit view.

My vote:
A mild "No" for one game ... though it is essentially what I did!

But F355 Challenge is an excellent simulator.  Generally acknowledged as the
hands down best (in terms of simulation, not necessarily overall gameplay) on a
console.  I find the hotlapping to be excellent, the racing to be challenging
but less satisfying.  The driving physics is the best of any console game I've
tried.  Graphics are excellent, but of course, not of GT3 level.  The AI still
isn't first-rate (very tough, but not quite honest and somewhat glitchy).
Mediocre video-replay modes.  Marred by the sticky grass and walls syndrome.
Only 7 other cars to race against (all F355's) which seem to repeat behaviors
and events on courses.

I finally did purchase a used copy of TD Lemans.  I find it quite fun and
reasonably decent in driving simulation.  Has its faults, but definitely
recommended for the number of cars, real tracks, and real-time LM mode
(***s can complete a full 24 hr event!).

OTOH, I found Metropolis Street Racer to be a serious disappointment.  If you
want an arcade game, but not of the NFS Porsche standard, give it a whirl.  But
it is no simulation.  And the graphics disappoint.  I can't see how anyone
compares it to the Gran Turismo series.

And IMHO, don't even consider Sega GT (which is a Gran Turismo clone).  Maybe
the control is better with a wheel, but I found it unplayable with the stock
controller.  And again, the graphics are very mediocre.

FWIU  The price of the Dreamcast will most likely drop down to about 50 US
dollars by or just after Christmas.
This should be the end of all supplies of the machine.
