Exactly  ! They are not innocent bystanders, they spun the

They should of kept quiet until close to release.

WSC - put up or shut up.....

So, let me get this straight. Because someone here posts a stupid email
saying put up or shut up (which isn't even very original !) it means that
WSC won't ever happen ?

Twisted logic !!

If people ever bothered to read some of the posts here they would know where
to find progress reports, but just in case you missed them

WSC - put up or shut up.....

I totally disagree on why GP3 was criticized.

It was nothing to do with hype.  It was because key elements of the game
were substandard and hadn't moved on nearly enough (from GP2) to keep pace
with the current level of PC sims.

GP3 was released in July 2000, yet it looked considerably worse than games 2
years older.  It had a 25 fps limit, unheard of in modern sims.  Thanks to
this the game never ran smoothly.  I know there is a fix for this, but when
you try to run at higher frame rates, it becomes too much for the engine and
the PO shoots up, even on a fast PC.  For how it looked, it stuggled in
terms of performance.  Compare the frame rates in GP3 and F1RC.  F1RC looks
way better and runs way faster.

GP3 has it's infamous slow-mo effect, which ruined gameplay and enabled
hotlappers to cheat (with the aid of the fps patch).

The controller setup in particular, but also the whole menus are poorly
designed.  Until the patch, GP3 was pretty difficult to get working with
certain wheels.

Then we've got no internet play and poor LAN play, where games 2 years older
can run with 20 cars on the net.

Also we had an official website claiming the game had 'industry leading 3d
audio' and yet the promised 3d sound never materialized in the game or the
patch.  Despite this the official site still listed it as one of the games
features, even after release.

I was such a big Geoff Crammond fan that I thought the criticism was harsh
at the time, but I now feel it was justified.  It was still better than F1
2000 though :)  I read in an interview with GC before GP3 was released that
he doesn't look at the work of his competitors.  This is a real pitty.  He
could learn a real lot with a quick half an hour on GPL.

Crapola.  Al they did was show some industry
people/insiders/journos/whatever the state of their work and their plans.
WE took it from there!  WE got e***d by their goals.  WE started
discussing pros, cons, what-ifs and wishlists.  The Wests have done nothing
more than a few fact-based press releases, Q&A sessions and interviews.  If
WE get over-e***d and then are disappointed that reality doesn't meet our
inflated expectations, don't blame the West bros.  On the other hand, if our
expectations are met, we should thank them.

My money still says the Wests are hard at work doing their thing!! :o)~
All is well Kendt & Everyone!! Cuz I just got that feelin' hehehe :)

| I mean, ease up guys!!!  The West Brothers strike out as independent
| developers so they don't have to deal with managers and corporate
| structure BS, and then they end up with half of RAS on thier asses
| like the worst micro-managers I've ever seen ;)....
|
| Damn it Chris and Tony  -  we demand a complete design doc for WSC,

| completion.  And we want it by Friday - you're already a week late on
| your project report ;)!

Couldn't have said it better.  It's funny how the people who predict that
WSC is never going to be released seem the most bent out of shape about it.

" WSC is also being developed for the PS2 - but not by the West Brothers -
and is to be a much more consumer/arcade orientated product."

Where exactly did this info come from?

WSC - put up or shut up.....

The Westies did not hype WSC. The hype is caused by the community.

All what the Westies did was saying 'this will be in, this will be in'. They
did that too with GP3. Although with GP3 it turned out that a lot of the
promised features were just not there, i do 'believe' in WSC, and i think
the others should too.

No one of us has ever spoken to Geoff Crammond. Not at E3, not in any direct
interviews, not at any forum. The West-brothers have however given a
radio-interview, they visit and even post at forums quite regularly, and
Chris West even was at a GPL-Lan in Holland for 2 days. At that Lan he was
very open and keen to get feedback from us. I spoke to him there, i know for
sure now that the West-brothers have the knowledge and dedication to make
this WSC a great sim. Best illustration of this is that he has even sold his
(italian) sportscar to pay for development costs.

Therefore i consider every attack at the West-brothers concerning WSC as a
pure display of disrespect. They have worked for 5 years on this title and
yet people slam them for not giving any extra info on development. I don't
care. My appetite for WSC is almost as big as it was when GP3 was about to
be released. We all know GP3 sucked as a sim. Therefore i have everlasting
patience when it comes to WSC. I don't care if it's going to be released in
Q4 2002, i just want the best Sim. If that means another year of
development, so be it. Just let them do their job.

For all the people who're are flaming the West-brothers in this newsgroup;
Start playing WSC or GPL first. With only GP3-experience you will be pants
in WSC:p

Bullshit, they were here there and everywhere talking about it, soliciting
wish lists, etc...

Your contradicting yourself, you just said they never hyped wsc.

Hmmm, I don't remember them ever doing anything to earn my respect.

They have worked for 5 years on this title and

5 years ago i had a p166.

 I don't

Speak for yourself.

Therefore i have everlasting

You must be a democrat. (hehe)

i just want the best Sim. If that means another year of

I'm not stopping them from doing anything.

Well DUH!! I can't play wsc it's a myth, but my GPL rank is negative you can
look it up.
