N3 cars both online and offline

Recently, I just started online racing, and have been using the generic (in
my case) "143" car while I have been online.  Someone explained to me to how
to change my car to a different paint scheme to one that I use in my offline
racing.  However, the problem arises in that to me, I use #24, but when
online, others see #83, or at least last night they did.  I don't know if
this number (83) switches or not, but it's annoying not knowing whether
someone is talking to me or not.

Secondly, is it possible to have different cars for me for different car
lists, without having to edit the t_player file in Windows?  For example,
say I would like to use car #2 for my multiplayer list (for online racing),
use #24 for my nascar list, and use a different car for an excellent IROC
set I downloaded from IWWCCARS.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

The only way somebody else will be able to see a car that you painted is for
them to have that same .car file in their \cars directory.  That's why most
online racing leagues have a carset made up of racers cars that they send in
for everybody in the league to download.

If the person you're racing doesn't have your .car file, they will see the
default.
