USB to Gameport Adaptor: any one tried one?

I thought I'd try one of these adaptors from radio shack on the hope of
eliminating my santacruz, which is in a gameport-less NF7-S v2.0
motherboard, with an old T2 wheel.

Anyway, it does work, all the axes are recognized in XP and GPL and
calibrate, the problem is the response is very ratchety with major
deadzones, and is more or less unusable in the game.  Does anyone have tips
on getting this to work properly, or should I give up?

Also, is there any Abit accessory connector that would add a gameport?  thx!

I have tried the Radio Shack one as well and it is far too stepped to be
usable.

I think I found the perfect solution, just leave the turtlebeach installed
for the gameport, but enable the nf7-s nforce2 sound device also, and use
the nforce2 for sound output.

All that's needed is to choose the nforce2 as the output device in control
panel.

Doing this gave a *dramatic* speedup in GPL!  I went from 30fps at the back
of a full-field start with the santacruz (detail sliders all maxed,
1280x1024) to 33fps with nforce2.  That is a remarkable improvement from
simply switching soundcards.  I haven't ran 3dmark to check sound fps there,
but I imagine they are similarly faster.

The nforce2 sound quality is the same or better in GPL.  I also tried the
old game Outlaws, and it appears my beloved Sensaura is not supported by
nforce2.  So its doubly good that I now have the option of switching between
the two soundcards.

I got the same bad results from the unit at Radio Shack with my TSW2.
However, I purchased the one from TSW and it's solid and smooth.
Although it is sold by TSW, I assume it would work fine with other
controllers as well as it has 4 different modes.

That solution also means that programmable devices are suported, and if the
Nforce2 mic input is ***you have alternative!

First of all the Radio Shack unit is junk...second you need pots that
are at least 200-250K...third look at the Rockfire USB gameport. The
website for the rockfire is  www.rockfire.com.tw. I bought one
somewhere online, sorry don't remember where I got it but was rock
solid. Steve P
