The cars are quite different, but nowhere near authentic.
The dashboard gauges don't work on all cars (fuel!) or don't
show correct values (kph instead of mph, but counting miles
and vice versa) the mirrors only work in 512x384 and
800x600, the game frequently locks up, the fuel consumption
and performance are 'developer-balanced', but way from real,
the performance of the cars doesn't match with the in-game
description (for example the Mercedes 154 is slow in
comparision and a real loser, and the Bonner Special is by
far the best car in the game), the graphics is very nice but
slow, and the multiplayer-feature is completely missing,
although mentioned on the packing. Same goes for the car
setup. At least they could have implemented different
gearings/tires/damping for different courses.
There is no lap-record counter, also.
The KI drivers are idiotically stupid. The same driver
always crashes in the same corners, they ram you and each
other from behind without a moment's hesitation ...
Last, but not least Broadswords website is dead - the last
news was that they're porting the game to Dreamcast. Not one
single word about a patch or delivery of missing features,
nada. Hasbro/Microprose don't even know the game exists ...
Im pissed to hell - such a beautiful idea, and such a load
of shit in the package. The last time I bought a game like
this was the indescribable Outpost from Sierra - and that
was my last Sierra game for years. Hasbro games will
definitively meet the same fate.
The fact that I was immersed for some hours (cursing and
swearing, but immersed) shows IMHO, how much they _could_
have achieved - with four to six months additional
development and QA. I'm sending this posting to broadswords
website also, asking them for an explanation. If they aren't
died of shame in the meantime, that is.
Wow, that was long.

Slot, based on what I understand: when looking at the RELEASED product
there's NO TELLING what they were thinking!! From what I've heard, I can't
imagine something like that would even be RELEASED! (... well, there WAS
that eXtreme Paintbrawl fiasco... As NasRev 1.0...).
Gunner
Please don't let Hasbro f*ck GP3 up! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!
Fortunately, I bought the game at a second-hand store, so I did not waste
too much cash.
This is a console game, need I say more. The whole game (NOT sim) is a real
dog. Graphics are pretty grim compared to GPL and SCGT; only 800x600?
Rubbish.
Car handling (if it can be called that) is equally bad. The steering option
on my M$ Force Feedback wheel appears to be either 'on' or 'off', full
steering lock or straight ahead. Crap.
Keep clear of this pap at all costs. If someone offers to give you a copy,
kill them on sight.
Go get Sports Car GT and enjoy a real fun sim.
