Spirit of Speed 1937 Expected To Gold Master This Friday

David Rowe, Joint Managing Director at Broadsword Interactive, mentioned
to us earlier today, that their upcoming 3D racing game, Spirit of Speed
1937, is expected to Gold Master this Friday. Check out the first look
article we published a while ago for information and screenshots. This
game, to be published by Microprose, received our "Gamer's Alliance ECTS
1999 Awards - Best Racing Game", and is incredibly promising. - ***

How on earth can you make an "award" well before the retail version of the
thing is released???!!  You are risking whatever credibility you have by
doing something like that!

Possibly because it's an ECTS award for games at a trade show which
haven't been released yet.  I assume that only unreleased games would
be eligible for such an award.

Yeah, pretty weird.  1) It hasn't gone gold yet.  2) 1999 isn't over yet.  But
it's the best racing game of 99'.

It's like albums that are released with a sticker on the front saying "Includes
the hit 'whatever'".  how did they know it was going to be hit when they
decided to print the stickers before the album had even been released?

What do you mean no credibility? We've got loads of credibility. What's
more, we're going to scream and whine until everyone recognises it!

;-)

Cheers,
Richard

I always thought that "Going Gold" with a NEW GAME meant the game was finalized
and has been released to the public for sale........

No...it means that the "master" has been cut and will now be replicated on a
full-scale basis.
