Nascar2 is wonderfull.. But, Im having problems with setups. I try to
save a setup and it wont save.. If I rename a setup and save it there is
no way to get it back... Also if I change the settings for the default
setups they revert to EASY and EASY every time I return to the setup
screen. Anyone figured this out yet?

I posted this same question to the Sierra online technical support
forum. I haven't gotten a response yet but it's only been a couple of
hours. I will post the response to this forum when I get one.

The manual shows a "Load" button on the setup screen which does not
appear in the game itself. Ideally the new setup should be added to the
pulldown automatically rather than requiring you to go through a loading
step.

I sense an FAQ coming on. Here you go:

To save a setup under a new name:

Click on the name field next to the "Setup" button and the name will be
highlighted. Now you can type a new name in the field. After you've entered
the new name, click on Save at the bottom of the screen.

To load a new setup:

Click on the Setup button (the down arrow next to the word "Setup") and
select the setup from the list that drops down.

To have a specific setup loaded when you qualify:

Click on the Qualify button (the down arrow next to the word "Qualify") and
select the setup from the list that drops down. Now each time you go to
Qualify session for that track, the selected setup will be loaded.

To have a specific setup loaded when you race:

Click on the Race button (the down arrow next to the word "Race") and
select the setup from the list that drops down. Now each time you go to
Race session for that track, the selected setup will be loaded.

Go to the name and backspace it out then type in the
new name. Then change the setup and hit save. It took
me awhile to figure this out. email me if you still have a problem.

The problem is.. after I click save.. and it tells me its saved its NOT
added to the drop down list. So, I cant ever reload it.. ALSO.. If I
change the defaults for race/qualify they ALWAYS revert back to
easy/easy.. (they do it after I click dave too).

I sence a patch coming on! :)

Jason, in order to get this to work you need to run a full
install!

Jason,

I had the same problem, what I did was in windows i opened the tracks
file in NASCAR 2 and added a file named test. stg

That gave me a file name once in NASCAR 2 which I could rename without
loosing one of the preset settings.

As far as the setting reverting back to easy, not sure, maybe these
have to be set for what you want each time you reload that track.

There is a option that lets you load a default qualify and race setup every
time you reload the track.  Just change the setups to the name you want to
load at the top left of the screen and you are set.  I loaded all of my
setups from Nascar 1 to 2 and had no problem changing or saving......

Is there a fix for this? Is there going to be a Patch? IMHO this is a serious
defect.
Until I can repartition or delete NR1, I don't have enough space on my FAT
formatted DOS partition.
It is pretty much useless if I have to re-enter my setup every time I go to
a track. (Looking seriously at del *.*)

I'm having the same problem the load button does not appear. When I
try to use the pop up menus the set up that I just saved doesn't show
up in the menu also I can't delete the setup that I just saved.

Question. Does anyone know if the NASCAR 1 setups will work with
nascar 2 there both .stg files

Ok I have seen enough no this thought maybe someone would say something but
I guess not you need to read your manual. It says right in the book on Page
134 that setups have to saved to disk. And no it doesn't say in the book
that there is a load button just three different setup buttons.! is for
Default setups  for Qaul. (top left corner) and the second is for Default
setups for Race (same corner right beside qaul.).And right below them two
is one that just says setup and comments under that. This is the button you
use to load setups from disk that you want to run.I guess I'm the only
person that reads the manuals to games so I don't keep asking the same
guestion.

Yes they work, but you need to modify them to fit the new parameters
(no air dam adjustments, 22gal of fuel, no stagger adjustments, etc.).
Dave Sparks made a utility to automatically legalize Nascar1 setups.  I
have a copy posted on my utilities page.

Since you're asking this is the rec.autos.simulators group, I'm pretty
sure the majority of us are using the Realistic mode.  After all,
that's why I got the game.  If I wanted an arcade racer, I would have
bought Need of Speed, Screamer2, or some similar console type game.

REPLY:

Yeah were being fooled by the word ARCADE. In no way is Nascar even in
this mode has an arcade type of feel and that's just fine with me.

For ex. if Nascar's sim was it's arcade mode nobody would be
complianing.

Another thing I found out is that you can't run a season in multiplayer
mode. Bo hoo. And how do you create your player and run him in the
mulitplayer mode. They always seem to assign you somebody else. I've
been through the manual, which in some cases is very weak like this.
Player creation is not covered very well at all.

Thanks.
