I read Midway got the cart license.
Does this mean that PAPYRUS will not be making a cart sim  ?
I thought they had the Cart license.

i certainly don't hope so, i also did read this news it also said that
midway was gonna use the lisence for their line of arcade style racers.
Man i'm waiting for so long for a good cart sim. I played indycar II many
many hours but i can't wait until someone brings out an up to date version
with good physics and accelerated 3d graphics. I love the circuits in the
cart serie esp. the street circuits.

If you want to get directly to it, *any* computer simulation of real world
racing is "fantasy-style", regardless of how well--or poorly-it is modeled.

They may very well make an arcade game, but I don't think you can
necessarily read the fact into the term "fantasy-style".

The Midway Press Release really shows that the license is for an
arcade-style racing game, not a simulation.  IIRC Papyrus still has a CART
license for the next two years.

  Heh, unfortunately, it gets worse:

Quoting Mike Ribero executive vice president of Midway:

"But we'll go beyond that, bending the laws of physics, defying the
laws of gravity and adding dream race venues that should provide
 some incredibly entertaining gameplay."

I hope that we get SOME kind of gpl engine/downforce game...

I just don't see why they would need a CART license to make a wipeout
game?!
Seems such a waste to give those guys an exclusive...

An exclusive license to make the NFLBlitz version of a CART racing game.
Its not an out and out exclusive license for games with the CART name. :)

Although I could completely deal with a realistic sim that didn't have a
CART license at all, as long as it realistically modeled the cars and the
racing physics of the champ cars. :)
