N3 Crashes

Hi all,

I'm having trouble getting N3 to stay stable on my system.  It has crashed
with 2 min each of the last three times I started it, twice totally locking
up my system.  The third time *only* crashed to the desktop. :-( I have been
unable to find any info on this on papy's or sierra web site and a deja
search shows nothing.  If anyone has any thoughts, I'd appreciate it.

My system:

PII 233
256Mb ram
TNT 2 16Mb video

Direct X is rev 6.1 and my video drivers are up to date.

Thanks for any help,

Mike

Some ideas..

Heat? Remove covers.

Screensaver? Turn it off.

CTL-ALT-DEL and end ALL tasks except explorer and systray
prior to running any game. No Norton, no nuthin'.. :)

If you have Office products on your system, be sure to drag
the 'findfast' icon out of the Win98 startup folder and reboot.
It will cause similar problems.

Soundcard drivers? Get up to date ones.

Uninstall/Reinstall N3

Reinstall DirectX?

Is it a consistent ACTION causing you to lock up (i.e. when you go to
setup screen, or when the green flag drops, etc.)?  Any OTHER programs
causing ANY problems (sounds screwed up, etc.)?  Do you have Force Feedback?
try disabling it.

Hey Ed,

Thanks for the thoughts!  I managed to keep it from crashing by setting my
sound to 8 bit vs 16 bit.  I have not gone out and double checked my sound
drivers, but they may in fact be the problem.

Thanks again,

Mike
