Do a search on Google for "PayPal".

I'll leave the rest to your interpretation.

I've been using Kagi for something like 8 years.  Never an issue, never a
problem, never even heard of a problem.  Of course it requires a credit
card, but that's ok with me.

That's hard to disagree with :)

It made it WAY to easy to buy that Compaq IPAQ 3835 yesterday, but for $349
I couldn't pass it up.

:-)

To me, a credit card is just a pre-approved check without all the ID
bullshit. They are very handy for parkades and things; it's easier than
having a car full of change. As long as you're responsible, pay it off
monthly, and never spend more than you can afford, a credit card is no worse
than any other form of tender.

Credit card companies win either way since they get a percentage every time
a vendor accepts one. It's a good scam - wish I'd invented it!

That's why I mentioned paying off the full balance every month.  You're
obviously the rare consumer - they don't make any money off you(unles they have
yearly fees).  Most of the rest of us are still paying interest on stupid stuff
that we didn't need in the FIRST place... :-(
I repeat - if I didn't have credit card bills, I wouldn't need the credit
card...  I could use cash, or a debit card, or solely use the CC for
convenience as you do.  Well, I can dream...

boy if that no shit!

My original point was why not get a check card that works like CC instead of
crying about not having Pay Pal as an option.

Indeed, and that's why I have a CC.

CC insurance is very handy for those internet purchases. In the UK the
CC co. are as responsible for faulty goods as the supplier. I've got my
money back through the CC co. on a couple of occasions. If i'd paid in
any other way I'd have got nothing.

I like my CC, it gives me interest free credit and free insurance cover.
:)

Cheers

Well I use a credit card for my paypal account, so i'm covered for fraud
through them.

Those things scare me...  They tie DIRECTLY into my bank account.

If something happens with a credit card, there's time to work it out.

If something happens with one of those, you are shit out of luck until you
prove your case.

Not me, no way.

My bank sent me one and I cut it up immediately.

I'm with ya Eldred :)

The Credit Card makes the use of the Credit Card mandatory!

It's a rat-race, I tell ya!

Not quite sure what you mean here, sorry...

That's one solution.  As most newsgroup discussions go, this one drifted to
other things...:-)

Some banks give you the same protections as a CC.  $50 limit to liability if
stolen, ability to dispute charges, etc...

True, but most people DON'T do that.  They use CC's to buy things that they
really can't afford.  Hey, this couch costs $3000.  I don't have it, but I can
charge it, and only pay $40 per month.  They don't factor the interest that may
make that $3000 couch end up costing $3800.  They also don't factor in the fact
that if you make multiple purchases, that $40 per month for each purchase adds
up...
Can you tell that I learned this shit the HARD way...? :-(

And if you are only going to use it as you've explained, a debit card does the
same thing without the POSSIBILITY that you'll have to pay interest.

You can still do it - new CC's pop up every week, seemingly.

Debit cards don't work in parking garages, on-line, etc. That's all I use my
credit card for.
