Something to do with this ?
............

GP3 Decrypter

If you want to use GP3Edit or any other GP3 utility, you must first
decrypt GP3.exe with this util.

NOTE! This is not a NO-CD patch!

1. Extract "gp3decrypt.exe" to your gp3 directory

2. Copy "dplayerx.dll" from the GP3 CD-ROM to your GP3 directory on your
   hard drive

3. Launch "GP3Decrypt.exe" (on GP3 hard drive directory)

4. Click "Decrypt game" button

5. Select "GP3.ICD" in the dialog box

6. Delete "GP3.exe" in your GP3 directory and rename the new "testme.exe"
   to "gp3.exe".

7. GP3 is now decrypted
