CPR & triglide32.dll weirdness...

by Nick Totor » Tue, 21 Apr 1998 04:00:00

This is a new one...

When I first downloaded the file, everything worked perfectly fine
and was to my satisfaction. Recently I blew away my hard drive and
reinstalled my OS (Win95 OSR2) and my games, applications, etc. I made
no hardware changes at all and have a CL V2 card with 8mb RAM.
Well... everything else went without a hitch. When I installed CPR,
I did it exactly in this order: installed the game, installed the patch
and then placed triglide.dll in the CPR root directory. When I choose
the 3dfx option from the CPR graphics menu, I get an error saying
"mutual exclusion not allowed" with an "OK" button.
The game crashes and returns to Win95 after clicking the box. All
other graphics options work fine. Anyone seen this error? Anyone have a
workaround? Thanks...

CPR & triglide32.dll weirdness...

Interesting, I just got a "mutual exclusion not allowed" error for the first
time today, but I wasn't playing CPR (although I do have the game).  I had
left my computer for a while and when I came back, the error message was
there.  The only applications I had running were MS Word, Access, and
Outlook Express.  I had been playing F1RS earlier, and I too have a CL V2.
I wonder where this is coming from.

Nick:
I have gotten this message when I have tried to change from D3D to
3dfx after going onto the track.  If I change it before beginning ANY
track time, it switches fine.  Unfortunately, I seem to get the hangup
at pit stops more with the 3dfx driver (does anyone else have this
problem - you are racing fine, then come into the pits, get to your
pit stall (it is so easy to find - not!) and the car stops, the
computer locks up with a tire screeching sound and looping engine
sound?).  So it is only a problem for me when I race first.
