NASCAR 2 OR DESTRUCTION DERBY 2

Entertainment value, challenge or what ?  NASCAR2 requires the investment
of time to become proficient and really have fun - it can be frustrating
for someone looking to sit down and immediately just go racing.  However,
N2 has staying power.  You can spend many months driving and getting better
- just to switch tracks and having to spend another few months getting up
to speed.  I think Papyrus has developed games with more staying power than
any other on the market.  I really enjoyed the Aces flight sims - for a
while.  I enjoy NHL hockey - for a while.  But I keep using NASCAR Racing 2
- since there is always something new to do.

That depends. Are you willing to put time into it setting up the car to your driving style or do
you just want to get in a car and start ramming things? Nascar2 requires a bit more time and
patience once you take it out of arcade mode while D2 is more of a game. Just jump in a go.

WELL, WHICH ONE?

Both games are a lot of fun.  I am willing to bet though that you will
lose interest in DD2 a lot sooner than you would with N2.  It's kinda like
comparing apples to oranges. DD2 is just an arcade game while N2 is a
simulation of the real thing
(although some would disagree with that :]

>WELL, WHICH ONE?

DD2 is a big pile of kaka.  Bought it.  Returned it.  Ran like a slide
show on my P133 with Matrox Millenium.  Cars have totally unrealistic
physics.  You get bumped and end up soaring 30 feet into air.  Makes
racing competively impossible.  Feels like you're not in
control....just watching things happen to your car.  On other hand
Nascar is Masterpiece.  Beautiful graphics.  Wide range of skill
levels supported.  Runs quite well on my system.

>WELL, WHICH ONE?

Certainly not DD2.
I had no control over the stupid car, no matter how much I fought with
the joystick calibration.  The car would not ** go straight **.

Once you get lapped, forget it, you'll never catch up, and you can't
catch the other cars as they pass you to knock them - they ** FLY **
right past you.

(and a minor point - you get real sick of the announcer in 2 minutes.
He'll say "OOOhhhhhhh" every time you tap a wall, which is impossible
not to do considering the car won't go straight)

If you want to break things, get DD1.  That was a hoot.  I still play
it occasionally.  DD2 was returned  :)

I haven't bought Nascar 2 yet, just getting back into Nascar 1.  But
I'll bet that's what you want if you want to race.
