Yet another East German motorcycle (primarily) track has been plucked from
obscurity by Andre Streu--who has already given us the beautiful Leipzig,
the impossible Halle, the short-but-sweet Dessau, and the ovoid
Grenzland--and his crew, Mark Daniels and Eric Bourgouin (who have
contributed Nurby 1984, Hockenheim 1967, and Jim's Neuvil).
This time it's the Schottenring, a 10-mile, 57-turn romp thru incredibly
lush mountainous forests northeast of Frankfurt, with soaring/plunging
elevation changes and insane levels of detail.
This is surely the most detailed, most costly (in terms of man-hours)
project in the history of GPL, with its beautifully rendered trees (the
scenery looks even more spectacular with eDimensional's 3D glasses),
Hansel-and-Gretel buildings (indeed, whole towns), livestock, spectators and
their vehicles (including what looks like a '71 Mustang), authentic signage,
a gas station (you can pull right up to the pumps, altho it appears to be
self-service), and rich textures like the cobblestones that adorn
Bremgarten.
It drives like a rally stage (a replay is included of Paul Jackson's
astonishing 5-minute lap). A fantastic effort, it would also make a
sensational NASCAR 2003 track (hint, hint). Get it here:

One error: the traditional BAPOM cover says 1967, but shows Graham Hill's
1965 BRM.
