Well once again, the evil man in the wheel chair has ***ed British Motor
Sport Big time. I cannot understand why (apart from the money side) why he
fails to resign Damon Hill, who has prove that he is the best driver,
under Schumacher.

Who the Hell is H-H Fretzen?? Being a former World Sport Car follower,
this guy never proved him against the others in the Sauber Mercedes Junior
Team. (Okay he was lucky to be in the Winning Sauber at LM / But that year
Jaguar has some bad luck)

Hes highest position is 5th in any GP and many times our Johhny Herbert
has out qualified him and out raced him..

I can only think that it must be what some elements of the British press
are saying, that he is doing this to `BUY` BMW V10 engines after 1997
when the current Renault deal ends. And of course the money. He refuses
to pay for quality.

I certainly hopes this blows up in Williams face !!

himself in something like a Benetton or Ferrari !!!!!!!!

For a start, this is the wrong newsgroup. But anyway...

"The evil man in the wheel chair". A little extreme, I think. But
anyway. Surely he has failed to re(-)sign Hill because Hill has proved
that he's not actually very good. If Hill was all that good, there's no
reason for him not to have the world championship tied up by now, given
the car and team at his disposal.

That I can't comment on - I don't know.

Such as Senna, or Prost?

I wouldn't say that any two drivers could drive for Williams and be
first and second in the drivers' championship. Just most of them. There
are just two things which could blow up in Williams face at the moment -
Schumacher in a reliable Ferrari, and Hakkinen or Coulthard in an
improved McLaren. Getting rid of Damon Hill isn't going to***on his
fireworks.

Maybe because Damon is a fast driver, but not good race-driver. Damon
is fast, but he can't even preform a good take over in race. We have
seen that lots of times. Damon is just lucky that he has Williams to
drive.

I would like to add my option to this, not that it matters, but here goes.

First off, I think it was money.  Why would Frank pay Damon 10 million
dollars when he could pay HH Frenzen less than half and probably still
win the constructors champions ship.  He doesn't care about the drivers
title.

Second, he could be thinking that when the renault engine leaves, his car
might be middle of the pack.   Everyone knows Damon can't pass on an F-1
Circut, unless they are back markers and move for him.  Frank might be
thinking that his car might be even with Ferarri, and Benneton not to
mention every other team on the brink of greatness. He could be thinking
he needs a passer, some one aggressive that won't take HIMSELF out of the
race passing other drivers.

No Damon has only proved that you do not need to be good to win in a
Williams.

Driving a Sauber might just account for his highest position.  And I`m
sure you`ll find that Heinz-Harald usually out-races and out-qualifys
Herbert.

Why should Williams pay through the nose for a mediocre driver when he
can get a better one for less.  Williams need a strong driver line-up
if the Ferrari starts getting competitive.

Why pay millions to Damon Hill when Jacques Villeneuve is doing the same
job for much less? There are many drivers out there as good or better
than Hill, and Frank isn't running a charity. Williams is a business,
and a business doesn't throw millions of pounds away unecessarily.

While I agree that at times we do stray too far off "topic", I feel that
it is a fine line to walk.  Since we are "simulating" real life, it is
at times approriate to incorporate real life topics.  As long as we
don't get too carried away, I personally don't mind a little "real life"
talk here in r.a.s.  (There, have I "waffled" enough?)

Just my $.02 worth...

You are forgetting that Damon had asked for somethinh like a 200% pay
increase, becasue his agent told him to do so. Frank williams obvioulsy
doesn't feel Damon is worth it! Once again a great driver gets dollar
signs in front of his eyes and ruins his otherwise good image.
