Did 67 GP cars have power steering?  I kinda doubt it...

I miss having a car with normal steering.  I always felt like I had
more control over what it was doing, and a better sense of how the
front wheels were gripping.

They didn't have to parallel park F1 cars in '67 ;-)

No need to guess, all the sims are clearly labelled for linear and non-linear on the sliders in
their respective controller sections.

Except N2k2 where there are contradictory opinions :-)

Some may not think it is right, but it IS clearly labelled even in NR2002.  And changing it from its
almost full linear setting(98%) towards non-linear makes it react on my LWFF exactly like changing
the settings in N4 or GPL, so I really don't see how you can argue with it.  If some people find it
to react differently then that, I'd suspect a problem on their end, NOT with the game itself.

Well, I never said there's a problem with the game. I just said that on my
system and on that of a few others (as I read similar comments a few months
ago here in the NG if I remember correctly) it doesn't work the way it's
labelled. And of course, if it happens to me, it can happen to others as
well, can't it.

Achim

And changing it from its
LWFF exactly like changing
it.  If some people find it
with the game itself.

So you're saying that if you sit in the***pit with the 3D steering
wheel enabled and turn the 3D wheel some small fixed amount such as when
the top edge of one of the spokes is directly parallel to the bottom of
the screen, you have to turn your real steering wheel farther when the
steering linearity is set to 100% than when it's set to 0%?  I really
don't see how that's possible.

But seriously, Eric knows best. If he says I'm wrong, I am wrong.

I never said you were wrong, just that don't understand how or why the
game's linearity setting would or could be different for you.  I don't
recall ever seeing anyone else reporting this behavior so I'll have to
assume it's something isolated to your hardware or system configuration.
I can tell you that it was programmed to be 0% on the left and 100% on
the right, and that is the opposite of the way it was in GPL (the
addition of the graduated 0-100 scale made the switch necessary so as to
match the behavior of the other sliders in the game which all increase
from left to right).

Hi Eric,

I'm grateful for your comment as it clears things up for me as well.
