>Yes on the DC. I thought it was an inferior GT-clone.

Well, I assume you're talking about MSR which was PG's predecessor (which
incidentally ran at 30fps) In any case, you couldn't hit the walls in MSR
without severely slowing down either. Any other fairy tales to share with
us, Frank?
Jason
Well, I'll repeat it's all subjective of course, but I listened to a variety
of CD players during my last round of buying (which was in 2000, not in the
80s) and never found the huge difference that many claimed. I settled on a
Cambridge Audio, which is neither exhorbitantly expensive nor cheap as dirt,
and it does the job admirably, but there are certain recordings I still
prefer on vinyl.
But now we've veered way off topic... and I actually agree with the message
of your original post, somewhat. I find a constant framerate (even 25fps in
something like GP4) to look a lot smoother and faster than a fluctuating
high framerate, but for control, every extra frame helps. I'm not sure how
often the controllers on an XBOX are polled, but I certainly notice the
difference between 30fps and 60fps in Live for Speed, for example, when
trying to keep a handle on the Caterham...

...
That depends on the app really.
Absolutely. On the other hand, it is not that hard to poll the
controllers independently off the framerate. GPL does it for example.
But even then, having a 60Hz picture does still look like you're more
in control, no matter your controller input rate (I use 100Hz mostly
with my own sim).

According to the developers, the controller will be polled at 60Hz and so
will the physics engine despite the 30fps frame rate. I believe games like
F1C, F1 2002 poll the controller every graphic frame which would explain why
the handling in those games feels so sluggish on slow PCs yet so brilliant
on extremely fast PCs.
