The only way to do this is by disabling the restrictor plate. Go to the
nascar\tracks directory and edit taladega.txt. Look for the line that
begins with "SPDWY". Change the "1" to a "0" in the first of the three
numbers. Be sure to fasten your seatbelt. You'll be running about
225mph going into the third turn.
Has anyone compiled a list of Nascar Hotlaps Yet?
(Like the ICR Hot Laps) It would be interesting to compare
times.

I've qualified at about 194/5, but this ain't much good from what I
see - people list 200+.
That sounds as if they've disabled the restricor plates. I don't see
how you can go faster than 198 with the plates. And if thats the case
they should be able to get around 215. Take a look at the record of
212 by Bill Elliot. That was done I think the year before the plates were
implimented at Daytona and Taladaga.
BTW. Can some one help me out?
I've tried to get faster by reducing the size of the front air dam,
but the strangest thing happened. I got slower acceleration times?
I exited turn one at 183 same thing as with the air dam at 5", but
with it 3.5" I accelerated to only 193 compared to 196. How's
this? I mean wouldn't 3.5" be less drag than 5". I was thinking
it had something to do with the wieght shift, but I couldn't figure
it out. This is anoying because I'm qualifing in the middle of
th pack than having to fight my way to the front. Same thing happens
at Michigan where I happen to have the fastest race day setup.

With version 1.2 and no cheats, I can usually qualify around 194-195, plenty
for pole position. My Formula T1 wheel has improved my performance in both
NASCAR and ICR alot. Pole is not impossible, it just takes time playing with
setups and memorizing the track. Pay special attention to exit speeds out of
the turns...they increase dramatically with a smooth hand and the right line.

Evidently. The paragraph above was written before I even KNEW there
was such a thing as 1.2. Thanks, y'all, for wising me up. My super
car from 1.1 is about 10mph slower in 1.2 ... But can still keep up
with 100% opponents in practice, at least, with very skillful (or is
it lucky?) drafting. Keep it floored! Catch ya later.
Just ran a 196.685 with a VERY simple setup... start with "ACE", then
just pump up the tires as fat as they'll go (60), and level EVERYthing
out (no weight shift to back or side, no stagger, front dam as high as
it'll go (5) and spoiler as low as it'll go (40), cut fuel back to 3gal,
and just follow the *** tracks. Oh yes, one more thing. Make 4th
gear one notch "taller" (that is, set it on 3.40). Nice smooth ride, but
it takes the full three laps to get all the way up to speed. Have I
said too much?
