i've already qualified at 198 mph.  and i also think it is impossible to
go 200+ mph  if someone did over 200 mph i would sure like to talk with
that person.  he must have one hell of a set-up

It's called racing without the restrictor plate.  Get a hammer and bang

You did this with v1.2 of the sim, or 1.1?  1.1, I can believe it -- I've gone
201mph with that version.  If you're going 198 with 1.2, I need to talk to you
about lending me some setup help!

I've turned 214+ as well w/o the plate, BUT even when I set the opponent
strength to its max (115/120% or whatever) I still lap them.  I've gone
back to the plate but with the 1.2 patch my top is 189 -- help!!

Just one note relating to this thread...

I noticed the outside temperatures have a dramatic effect on times.
I set the outside temps to 120, and it increased my qualifying times
by 3-4 MPH.  The odd thing is, it doesn't seem to affect the rest of
field's times, making that pole position much easier.

So, speeds alone do not indicate a great set-up, w/o temp information
to back it up.  I consider this a "cheat", and still use random or at
least reasonable temps, as good fair competition and gameplay is much
more exciting than winning by several laps.  But just thought some of
you might like to know.
