Considering that some demos plain SUCK compared to the actual game, why not?  I
didn't buy Toca2 based on the demo.  I thought it *did* suck.  Others have told
me that the demo wasn't a good representation of the full game, and the retail
version was actually good.  So, the demo doesn't always help, does it?
What's the difference than if I was to borrow the full retail verision from a
friend to make sure that a) it would run on my system, and b) that it would
hold my interest?  If I buy it without trying it, and hate it(or my system's
too slow), I'm out the purchase price.  Stores near me won't do refunds, just
exchanges.
Not flaming, just giving differing opinions.

I thought the Toca demo showed potential...didn't like the driving model
but quite liked the feeling of racing in a pack. I bought the full thing,
played it for 2 days and sold it to a friend. The demo was, IMO, very
representative of the full release.

The bottom line is *why* would a developer agree to put out a demo which
didn't accurately reflect the full product? Tweaks etc will occur but it's
got to be fairly close to finished.

The differences I was referring to had to deal with adjusting the controls.  In
the demo, I simply could NOT control the car.  Once I turned the wheel beyond a
certain point, the car would go into a spin.  There wasn't any adjust in the
demo for control sensitivity, and it affected my opinion of the driving.
Because of that MAIN issue, I didn't want to buy the game.  I was told by
someone here that there WAS an adjustment in the full game, and it was actually
worth buying.  I got the game for about $15, and it's an ok game.  I still need
to tweak the controller sensitivity a bit, but it's MUCH different from the
demo.  My long-winded point<g> was that based soley on the demo, I simply would
not have bought the game.  So, how many other people got the same original
impression of the game from the demo, and didn't have the benefit of r.a.s. for
advice?
