MGPRS2 and the Game Service

UbiSoft had released a new Patch (1.03)
It correct some bugs (ghosts lap, AI qualifying time, FF...)
And also a beta of the GameService.

Almost no lag! impressive.

Just some strange behavior when you get out of the track for others drivers.
Hope it's due to beta.

But I think all in all that you should try it all you GPL drivers (and of
course all the others).

Game Service client (5Mo) :

MGPRS2 1.03 Patch (3Dfx) (4.4 Mo)

MGPRS2 1.03 Patch (D3D)

Careful : You have to launch MGPRS2 first and choose Multi then Game
service.
Don't launch GameService client first.

Can you be a little more technical if you can on that ?

What is the max # of drivers ? What are average latencies ? What are the
limitations and how good it is ?

If it's anything under 12 drivers, they done a really bad job, compared to
the NROS and GPL/VROC online.

I haven't actually raced yet, but by*** out in the Game Service
chat room for awhile, I heard that the maximum # of drivers is 8, but
only if they all have great latency.  6 drivers seems to be the
average for a good race.

Maximum 8 drivers. But, there's one anomaly. I notice that sometimes the
other driver's car seems to "stop" or slow down at certain point of the
track. To that driver, my car would seem to zip by at turbo speed on his
pc. I wonder what might  cause that... After trying MGPRS2 again, I
still find GPL cars "easier" to handle: 1) no sticky grass in GPL (grass
composed of crazy glue) 2) the hability to do power turns in GPL: turn
the wheel, mash the gas and the car will do a 180 degree turn. Online
with MGPRS2, when I was facing the wrong direction (after a bump from
other driver, I never do any mistakes ;) ), I find it hard and
frustrating to go back in the right direction... turn the
wheel...reverse... turn the wheel... first gear.. repeat.. then you're
30 sec from the guy in front of you... At least in GPL (or Nascar), you
can be put back on the right track faster. I do like to race in the rain
though! It's so hard. Plus, it's always fun to get friendly competition.

note to Montrealers: there's a Ubisoft server in Montreal. So our
connection to that server is always good (nice change from TEN).
