The man at the store probably makes more profit off the Cyrix chip
and probably only stocks computers with that brand.  So he will try and
"Steer" you towards his chip rather than an Intel equipped cpu.

AMD makes a 486-120. It's a nice chip but not significantly better
then their 486-100... least not if yer considering most bang for your
money. Intel's 486-100 has more cache then AMD's, but also costs a bit
more...16K as compared to 8K. You can get an AMD 486-100 for ~ $70-80
US.  Both AMDs processors are 3 volt.

I just got a Cyrix 5x86 120mhz chip and system board.  The whole deal
cost me $242.00.  According to PCBench 9.0, It falls between a P90 &
P100.  The Intel P90 chip alone costs more than that.  If you want to
know more, send email and I'll be glad to keep you posted on any bugs.

Intel does not make a 486/120, never has, and never will.  If you buy
one, it will either be an AMD or Cyrix chip, because they are the only
two companies making them.

I'd go for the P75. The processing power is pretty much the same with
both processors, but I'd wager It'll be much safer to raise the clock
frequency of the Pentium ( if you're into that sort of thing )
Just a guess.
Don't blame me if you do it and your processor goes "snap crackle pop".

One more to throw into the fray in this P5 vs. DX4 discussion:  Has
anybody out there tried the NexGen Nx586 for driving games?  Where
does it fit in relative to the others?  It looks like it might be
an inexpensive alternative, but....

I'm wondering the same.  I saw and ad for an Evergreen 586 133Mhz that
will work on a 486sx25.  When I purchased this computer I was on top of
the world, now I'm below the crust and need help.  Especially with GP2
coming out.  Hope someone knows.

I was once considering a processor upgrade, and checked out the P5 and
Nx586, and to my surprise, the Nx586 does not come with a MathCo
processor.  Overall, the P5 was faster in comparable megahertz chips,
and with the extra mathco processor, was a better by.  But the DX4 -
100 is a valid alternative to the P5/90.  There is atleast one other
586 chip available that I have yet to research.

FWIW, the NexGen 110 has a FPU.
