N3: Force Feedback opinions? Also FX Wheel

by Doug Appleyar » Thu, 18 Nov 1999 04:00:00

Having just bought an FX Racing Wheel with FF,
was wondering what everyone else thought of N3's
force feedback.  For me it seems to be "vibrate
a little in evry turn, vibrate more if turning too
hard."  Also getting vibrations when running in the
grass, or spinning, or hitting the wall, or trying
to drive with damage after the previous events :-).

Am not getting steering resistance, like in Dirt
Track Racing, or NFSIII.

Also, if you have an FX wheel, how do you like it?
I installed the patch but still saw choppiness.
Then I unloaded the joyact.exe from my tray - now
it's smooth as silk, but I can't use any key mapping.
Although I didn't do much of this anyway since you
can't do key looping, as with Gravis Xterminator.

One time when racing on-line, Tally, no plates,
the FF simply cut off.  Didn't return for some time,
until later when I hit a wall.  Then came back.
(Been hitting the wall a lot with new FX wheel.
Especially when trying to exit turn 4 without
increasing vibration, e.g. car is tight).

Race on
