All,

I just called Microprose US Tech Support, and the rep there checked
and said that a Rendition update of GP2 is being worked on but he had
no release date information.

Of course we all know that Tech Support has to be taken with a grain
of salt when it comes to updates and patches that aren't out yet, but
he did put me on hold and checked and came back and told me that he
was told that a Rendition update *is* being worked on.

If so, this is great news!

Can we expect this before the next century?

but the stupid man will just lay down on some seaweed and roll around
until he's completely draped in it. Then he'll stand up and go, "Hey,
I'm Vine Man." Jack Handey.

No, sorry...selfish me. I only asked about Rendition support.  What it
boils down to is that I love GP2 as it is right now, but I find it hard to
boot it up and enjoy it as much because I want full detail in SVGA and I
want it at 30 fps!  Oh yeah and throw in some filtering, anti-aliasing,
hazing, etc....

At least you know that doing the Rendition work shouldn't be anywhere near
the project that adding rain physics and effects is, for instance.

Any mention of a patch for rain and the speech that people have talked about
that's in the game somewhere?

[snip]

Think about the ease of adding rain effects with the Rendition available
features.  Think about the ease of developing with a card designed to
not only be fast in 3D, but with good support for coding those effects.

Think about the advances to driving physics with the heavy 3D engine
workload taken from the CPU.

If they are working on this project for real, we might be in for quite an
improved experience.
