N2 Modem problems

I am running Nascar 2 under Win95 with a Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro
Joystick.
Everything works fine and my car handles well when racing against AI, but
when I hook up with a friend my car pulls to the right and handles
completely different.  If anyone has thoughts or suggestions please post.
