F1 games on PS2

I'm about to buy a PS2. As a big fan of F1 games, such as GPL and GP3, I
would now like to play descent F1 game in my living room.

I've checked out the field in F1 games for PS2 and there seems to be two
above all, namely F1 Racing Championship from Ubisoft and F1 2001 game from
EA Sports. As a fan for a more simulation type games, which of these two
would be better. Any experience.

Also there seems to be an excellent game GT3 on the way. But my heart is
with F1...

F12001 is already out on the PS2? Sure you don't mean F1CS2000? The
F1RC from Ubisioft is very nice, except the AI is crap, IMO. At least
the PC version is. The EA one might be a better choice if you actually
want to make it around the track. I'm talking about the PC versions
here as I don't have a PS2.

I have a PS2 and F1CS2000 from EA. I also have a PC (333mhz) with f12000 and
GP3 on it. If you are after a realistic sim, then stick with the PC - the
feedback through the wheel is much better in GP3 and both handle better than
the PS2 game, which is definitely more arcade style (especially with
invulnerability turned on). The graphics on the PS2 are pretty good though -
and if you aren't into extreme realism, it is a blast!

Harri-

I don't have a PS2 yet, but I do have a PS1 and am a big F1 fan, and I
have pretty much every F1 game that has come out for PS1.  The best of
the lot, BY FAR, was F1 2001 by EA Sports (kind of a shock for me,
since I thought their NASCAR games were a joke).  Most Playstation
games are so arcade they didn't even have mirrors that worked, or
***pit views, no damage, etc., so you have to watch out.   F1 2001 had
all three of those (including fun front tires that after you hit a wall
hard enough would wobble for a while as you limp around before perhaps
coming off), and a fun qualifying session in real time against all the
other cars just like on tv.   So I would lean towards the PS2 version
for sure.

I did notice that in the back of a PS2 magazine that F1 Racing
Championship will be coming to PS2 later this year, and seems like
people in this group like the pc version alot.  Another one to watch
for.

Le Mans 24 Hours, formerly on Dreamcast, is also out or out soon on
PS2, which I hear was pretty great on DC; sense of speed, graphics,
etc.
