r.a.s.nascar? My two cents

The majority should win, but my vote is to NOT split RAS along sim
lines.

Ed, I'm mostly a sim road racer, so I didn't read all of your posts.

I LOVE ICR and ICR2 road races, I am grateful for you're efforts to
pick up the slack after Rick left.  Even though you made it clear ICR
was outside your area of responsibility/expertise.

I moved from ICR to ICR2 after I had enough CPU horsepower so I
didn't have the traction problems.  I've never used, or been upset by,
the yellow flags.  I've always thought WIN 95 would be the last platform
I would choose to run a sim.  So I read a couple of posts in the "yellow
flag bug" threads, and a couple in the more *** "WIN 95 with the
ICR2 patch / fraud / class action lawsuit" thread, and ignored the rest.

As a Papyrus employee, and someone who offered to answer our posts,
you perhaps felt obligated to shovel through all this shit.  I watched
you growing impatient with the ***, and repetitive, nature of these
two threads.  I think both points are valid, but I was uncomfortable,
embarrassed really, with the intensity of the posts.

I'm sorry some jerk forged, clumsily, your name, but that post would
have been in your new proposed group, if it had existed at the time.

You're right.  But you jumped on every bodies shit, and that cooled
down real fast.  In fact I think there was a surge in posts that
expressed gratitude for your support.  I also would like you to know
that I think those were unprecedented.  I've never seen anything quite
like them in r.a.s before.  I am guilty for not posting "chill the
*** out".  So I loose your input on ICR.  Perhaps F1GP2, and
Starting Grid, will be a chance for us road racers to re-define
ourselves.

     <Snip>
If someone's going to rip me off, I'd like to know about it.  I
advised a thief to email Rick Genter for help.  Other's jumped on
the thief real hard.  Are you prosecuting these pigs?  As far as
Indianapolis Motor Speedway, I'm not reading all of them, but they
seem mostly to be "Where can I buy it?" type posts.

I don't think it's ICR2 drivers who are pushing for the Daytona
hack.

I don't have trouble selecting posts that interest me.  "people
ask the same things over & over again", valid point, for a group that
has a FAQ.  I think these are facts of life on the net.  But having a
small group will probably minimize this.

   *** him.

Your postings are a favor, particularly those relating to ICR.  You
can choose not to do a favor.  I think you were on the receiving end of
two hurtful acts, the "Ignorant flames", and one real pisser, the bogus
posting.

I am inclined to vote "NO" for rec.autos.simulators.nascar.  However,
I do sympathize.  Does your continued participation here require the
creation of r.a.s.n?

Perhaps rec.autos.simulators.nascar will turn out to be a group of
dedicated, knowledgeable, and grateful sim drivers.  They certainly are
on notice.

You are committed to your users and your product, if you value your
stomach lining, things have to change.  I hope you find what your
looking for.

To all of the rec.autos.simulators.whatever advocates:

   I understand Ed's problem, what's yours?

It seems to be NASCAR posters who want this.  I didn't want to go to
another group to read about NASCAR and NASCAR 2.

Lets keep the road racing sims, ICR2 and F1GP2, in one group.  Perhaps
we could call it rec.autos.simulators.

The split I would like to see is the following:

   rec.autos.simulators.i.am.an.***
This would be for those who***on people whose spelling, grammar
and command of English does not meet their discriminating standards.
If the purpose or effect of your post is to discourage further
posting by others, r.a.s.i.a.a.a is for you.

As an American, I'm proud of the Internet.  This is our gift to the
world.  I know, everyone is supporting it, but it started here.
The freedom of speech includes my freedom to hear many voices, in
the appropriate thread.  r.a.s is for discussing auto sims, not
grammar.  I want to thank those who post in English, when it isn't
     their own language.

   rec.autos.this.is.the.twentieth.angry.demand.for.this.feature.this.week
I want to know about problems in sims.  But after 19 flames in the
thread "*** Papyrus for not including Windows with their ICR2 patch",
     I understood, and I think Papyrus/Sierra understood.  I wasn't
expecting to want to run ICR2 under Win 95, and it seems, now that
we're seeing how it runs, neither does anybody else.

The yellow flag isn't fixed yet, make the point, and *** about it a
couple of times a week.  Not twenty.

                                                       You are now excused
                                                       Larry
