F1 2002 on Xbox: My opinions

I played F1 2002 on the Xbox today... and it was dire. The graphics looked
bland, and unrealistic. The track I raced on (Silverstone) was highly
inaccurate. The car was unresponsive, turning was difficult (I was using the
pad) and stuck to the road like glue.

Most of all the sense of speed was missing completely.

Be interesting to see how the PC version compares.

Are you sure it's F1-2002 and not F1-2001?   I don't believe a release date
is out for F1-2002 and it's still a work in progress.  I also thought 2001
was/is a PS/2 port from EA.    From what I've heard, they hardly even dented
the features of the Xbox in F1-2001.

F1-2002 sure looks pretty though. Pics at

If anyone's interested the current so called racing line-up for the Xbox is
available here.

Colin McRae Rally X looks interesting.

F1-2002 is on the shelf in Aus, but I don't have an X-Box..

Cheers,
Rod.

Hey, you sure it wasn't really the PC version with those two statements? ;-)

F1 2002 has already been released on the X-Box. Steering
with a pad isn't natural - you can get a thrustmaster wheel
for the X-box for around 40. Generally, I found the game
a good effort. I have an old PC (a P2 350) and I found
playing F1 2002 on the  X Box to be more compelling than
GP3 on the PC - mainly I suspect this is due to the poor
frame rate I get on my PC (around 25 odd).

I don't know the circuits so well - but running the F1 2002
and GP3 side by side in Monaco - I didn't notice much
difference. I only had F1 2002 on hire, and my wife wanted
to watch some rubbish on the telly, so this isn't in depth
analysis.

If you've got a PC which can handle GP3, F1 2002 probably
isn't for you, but I think F1 2002 is a good effort.

Definitely the Xbox version, it was plastered all over the store and
shelves.  :o)

Admittedly I only raced on Silverstone, but the track was wrong and the
graphics dull.
