If you do a trace on the server, it's location might have something to
do with it, looks like it's located in Finland or something, not too
surprising :-), meaning we here in Europe will have excellent
connections, while you US based guys will suffer what we usually suffer,
the Trans Atlantic bottleneck...

Guess I should have read the whole thread before replying to Cliff :-),
but it will be fast to almost anywhere in Europe, as the connection to
Finland is rather excellent, I should buy some shares in Nokia probably
:-)

Hey, anyone else notice how odd these cars look in the movie? I mean
they have closed***pits, fenders, bright colors with logos and such.

I wonder what kind of upgrade this is for GPL?

LOL, yeah, I noticed :-), you guys use Eltele as your ISP or something,
almost no uptime, and whenever it is up, it's slow ? :-)

Now we're getting seriously offtopic :) I don't know what Eltele is,
Runit is managing our computers and networks and I think they are
pretty directly connected to Uninett who should have enough bandwidth.

Finally, a bit more discussion of the movie itself, instead of
endlessly comparing download times like they were fast laps :-)

I think it looks superb.  The dynamic shadows are quite nice, and the
cars look real, with just the right amount of shine.  I'm surprised
there was no smoke... hope that doesn't mean it's a performance killer
at the moment, but then again the final release is many months away.
The one thing I really like is the angle of the cars in the corners...
hard to describe, but it just looks right when compared to real NASCAR
racers slipping (not sliding) around the corners.  I'm not a NASCAR
fan, but I am looking forward to this one.

Stephen
