Holy ***I can't believe the Papy is putting out a PATCH for N4 and charging
for it........Oh add some cheesy driving instruction by DW .....that's worth
another 50 bucks or so.....Played both versions back to back.....besides a
frame rate hit....what's the difference.
Hey Papy...like the subject says...change the name from N2002 to Nascar for
Dummies...and package it in one of those annoying pukey yellow boxes like the
books.....

I think the underlying costs, mainly licensing, is probably the most driving
force behind the need to sell NR2002 as a separate package.

No, I don't like it either.  It's obviously an updated N4, but I think I
understand why things are they way they are.

Maybe not.  Who knows :)

exactly,, N2002 to me is a dumbed down version of N4, the cars seem
easier to drive,, and the menu screen graphics and button clicks are
just like Heat...

NASCAR4 + Heat patch=NASCAR 2002

but I will say the engine sounds are much improved..(in the replays it
sounds almost like a real live race,, amazing, they got that gurgle
sound in engine almost perfect) but the cars seem a lot tigher then in
N4, even with N4 setups,, these cars push wayyy more..

Ya but the license is already paid on N4 ...they can patch the hell outta that
game and not pay out any more cash....Is there more in this game that they are
licensing....besides paying DW....Hell drop that nonsense and release this as
a patch to N4....It is not an updated N4...just a patched N4....
N2 to N3 big difference.....N3 to N4 huge difference.....N4 to N2002...fisted
by Papy.....If they really want our money, release this as a track pack/patch
for N4...That way we are all on the same page when it comes to online
racing...Now some guys will be N2002....some like me will just stay with N4..

If they fix the idiotic AI, that may be worth the price of admission. I
tried running a 50% race at Richmond against a full field of AI cars...
guess what happened: when the AI cars reached their pit window, all hell
broke loose. It seems that they pit regardless of the position of other
cars around them. Other problem: I pitted before all this happened so I
was a lap down when the yellow came out.

I thought the patch had taken care of the problem. As is, it's still
unraceable offline when doing race longer than 35%...

In all of my experience's patch's are normally bug fix's where updates are
usually program change's or addition's.

But as I recall N1999 with 3 different leagues (WC, Busch, CTS) was
offered for sale at a list price less than N2 or N50(Golden Anniversary box)
Because it was just a minor repackaging...Here we have N2002, a worthy
incremental improvement, but certainly not worth the Highest price Sierra
has ever charged for a racing title.  N4, certainly deserved a full price,
it was a big leap over N3.  But N2002 strikes me as waaaaay overpriced.

After re-reading the posts, I think I misunderstood some of them; agree
with your statements Dave, I thought Ed's were the same, but now I think I
was mistaken :)

I'll probably end up getting it, but it's not worth $50, from what's
seen.........so far.

My point is....

If you were willing to fork out $50 (or what ever) for N3 - why not N2002?
If N2002 got what I think it got;
- tweaked physics
- new tracks
- new paintjobs & drivers (for you offline guys :-)
- "telemetry",
- new and imporved soundsystem
- better graphics
- new POV incar
- better AI
-  Jaws' driving-lessons
*pluss*
the new replay export filters   -    that sounds like a whole lot of fun for
fifty bucks imho...

I would also guess that N2002 would be improved  in other areas too,  such
as multiplayer stuff  and other "bugs"..

Just my ? 0.02 ofcourse.... :-)
