ICR II 1.0.2 Patch - Needed some files.

by Demetrius Nune » Mon, 15 Jul 1996 04:00:00

Could you people that already had applied the 1.0.2 patch send me some
files, because the patch acused some files missing or in a wrong format,
so I set the option -ignoremissing and the rest went just fine. By the
way, the patch is awesome, and the car is much more in control now.

The 3 files I need are:

AUSTRAL.TXT
LONGBCH.TXT
MLWAUKEE.TXT

Thanks a lot guys!

If you follow the instructions (I know, nobody reads instructions) they say to re-install
the program first before the patch is applied.
If you do that, the files are present in their proper (un-hacked) form and the patch will
be able to change them.

Well, I am not so sure about this.  I have had great difficulties
patching up my ICR2.

I have had problems reinstalling it, but it was my fault (I wiped it out
instead of using uninstall..., and the Win95 registry doesn't like it)

But even when I apply the patch after a new installation.  The patch
still complains about files which have the same name but with different
contents...  I have to manually copy the file over from the CD rom.
Sometimes the patch even have problems checking the file it just patched
(as I apply the patch several times).  I did it at the end, but what a
night.

I think this patch is not very finished, or at least very stable, and it
might be the reason why Papyrus wants to hold it back before it causes
more problems.  Do you really think they want to tease us by having done
it, and not giving it to us?

Jeff

PS The handling of the car is better now, but was it a bug, or just the
cars before was too hard to drive, so they make it easier?

In the readme.txt file of the patch, it says to run the patch by typing
in "patchicr2" .  Are you just typing "patch" instead?
