Weren't you the same person who was making eloquent arguments
about how F1 2000 was no good? How could you make these points
if you cannot even run the game?
To fix your problem I guess I should suggest the obvious re-install
the video driver thing...

actually, he said:
Could somebody tell me whether F12000 really improved that much with the all
those patches. I borrowed it from a friend the moment it came out and played
it for about half a week and really hated it. The track modelling and AI
were just so bad. I had my doubts over the physics as well, the driving just
seemed too much of a reaction game. I always had that same feeling with
MGPRS2 but now after really studying some onboard footage I feel the grooved
tires and the brakes have changed F1 driving more than I realized. These
guys are not driving through corners any more, they just slam the brakes
really late, turn the wheel a bit keep the revs constantly low (around 11
,000 rpm), put the car straight and then hit the throttle. They just don't
drive through the corners. So if GP3 is realistic we can be sure we'll have
the same kind of driving, a kind of driving I don't like.
To get through the time waiting for GP3 I'm now thinking of buying F12000,
but only if the AI has improved significantly . The track modelling I would
have to live with, but I just can't stand bad AI.
Maybe you should reconsider your career as a detective.

Hi Harjan,
I guess you have already tried to install one of the non-tobacco cars and /
or track patches and made a mistake when repackaging the .mas files...
just a guess - I may be wrong. But if that's the case, then just reinstall
the game and be very careful when installing modifications.

Alex

I'm afraid I can't help you out, other than to say that I'm
experiencing exactly the same problem - the only way I can
drive f1200 is to select the Test Day option.
Maybe by comparing systems we can find some common elements
which may be the cause of the problem...
My system:
PIII 450MHz
128MB RAM
Win98 SE
Voodoo 5 5500 (Latest driver)
AWE 64 (Latest driver)
MS Sidewinder FF Wheel
I've tried:
* Reinstalling the game
* Reinstalling sound/video drivers
* Software mode
* Direct3D mode
* Killing off all other software before playing
* Disabling the sound card
The only thing I can think of to try now is re-installing Windows...
as yet have had no reply. :(
Cheers,
Dave.

OK, by completely re-installing windows I've managed to get
the problem to go away. I suspect it was probably some interaction
between either the game, direct x, or my voodoo 5 drivers and
something left on the system from a previous game/directx/driver.
Hope that helps,

I'm trying to remember. I think the site I got it from
said to put the zip file into the main f1 2000 folder
and unzip. So yeah, I guess you could just copy the
new files over the old ones.
Tom
They should have name this game "Hot Lap 2000 with no brain".
