How do you setup a PRIVATE multiplayer game?

Please specify Option settings too....
I seem to get a different result evrtime I start an MP session.

We get lots of lag when dialups join our races?

Thanks from the newbie :)

The easiest way to make the race PRIVATE is to add a password to the
multiplayer session ...

You do not announce your race.  There's a little checkbox, If that is
blank doesn't that keep gamespy from seeing your session?.
The 56k lag can be minimized IF you and all your drivers choose the 56k
connection.  Even if YOU and all your buddies have broadband...set for 56k.
This lessens the load on the host and cuts down on the data flow.  Send your
IP to your friends and that should be enough to keep them out.  Also try
putting PRIVATE KEEP OUT for a server name.

Dave

I have used the the ANNOUCE = NO option but even though that is entered -
"it seems" that either my friends with the proper IP can't see the game
listed.....
and sometimes (other) people still enter the game even though it was "not
annouced"?

I have used PRIVATE in the game name several times but that has not stopped
people from entering anyway.

I apprecaite your suggestion of having everyone use 56k but that would not
be necessary if I could just get private games working  :)

Thanks for responding

Cheers

Adding a Password would great if there was anywhere or anyway to do that!

If you know how, please explain that to me as this would be the perfect
solution.

Thanks for responding

Gamespy has a placeholder for a password, but it is not operative.  I
beleive you will have to wait and see if F1 Relay gets back on it's feet AND
it doesn't waste too much time with the latest UBIF1racer AND they release
an update for GTR via F1 Relay.  That's a lot of ifs, but they did support
FIA GT V3 so it's not too much of a stretch to suppose they will also
include GTR.  Then you would have password protection.
(of course all this depends on EA allowing F1 Relay to offer multiplayer, I
haven't heard the results of their trip yet.)

"David G Fisher"
No not there David,  Just for his perspective, the more time they spend
getting Ubi's new one going, will be time added to getting GTR updated.  I
guess it sounded like I was denegrating the title...well, I wasn't...not
yet.  :)
