ICR2 Setups Observation

ICR2 Setups Observation

I got ICR2 about 3 weeks ago and I have been racing with the keyboard.
Yeah, I know I need to get a "real" input device, but I am strapped for
cash at the moment, plus I am used to using the keyboard and I like to
suffer.

Is there anyone else out there being this stupid?  I've managed to run
184 at Nazareth (qualifying) and won a race (half distance, 95%
strength).

My real observation is that I have pulled some setups off the net and
tried using them.  A universal observation is that they have been
somewhat unusable, primarily due to the excessive wheel lock used.  It
seems that the controller does make all the difference in the world -
particularly the wheel.

Is there a decent wheel/pedal setup available for around $100?  If not
what other setups work well?  Email me and I will post a summary.  I'd
also like to hear from any other fool using keyboard.

i use a gravis analogue pro and i works great for all games.
Pretty good for keys i would imagine
You are right there all the setups i have downloaded off the net {only
non-oval ones} have had excessive steering lock and they have also
been running with not nearly enough negative camber on the rear wheels
{to stop high speed oversteer}

I used a keyboard for indy1 and when i changed over to joystick my
times were about 2 seconds a lap slower. When u get a wheel u can
afford to put on loads of steering lock for the slow corners.....the
joystick is bad enough {11 degrees for all road courses} i can imagine
the keys would be worse.

I don't think u will get the wheel/pedal setup for less than 100
unless u do the "make your own wheel".

Good luck with the cash...................

I got a Virtual Pilot by CH Products for $80 in Canada. It works well
for auto and flight sims. I also saw a pedal/rudder controls that match
this unit for the same price.

Consider building your own wheel/pedals. Check out

Has several plans plus links to wheel/pedal manufactucter sites.
