That was one problem, which I figured out from the readme file (it's
great when people include instructions like that in the download, it's
appreciated).

Problem number 2 is that I was a retard yesterday - believe it or not
I installed Nascar 1 instead os N2 (the cds were together) and didn't
notice right away. So of course the tracks didn't work in N1.

Had no problem at all getting them to work once I installed Nascar 2.

The new RedRock track in FANTASTIC! Sierra should send the track maker
a bag of money and beg them to come to work for Sierra as a
professional track maker (presuming it was not someone on the N2
team). I didn't even think the N2 engine was capable of graphics like
that, and the race itself is pure fun, more fun than any of the "real"
Nascar tracks.

Maybe the guy shouldn't be working for Sierra, but should be designing
REAL race tracks - can you imagine watching a live race at a RedRock
style track? Of course that turn at the bottom of the hill would
quickly become known as the "widow maker"!

The new tracks are from Sierra, so I'm sure the track maker is already a
member of the team.

RedRock is a great track but I find it kinda like driving on ice
sometimes. . . no grip what so ever.  Only control I have is which wall
I want to hit.

That hill and adjoining turn have ended my of my practice runs, you
think with the banking you could take it fast, but nope!

You can take it fast, you just have to take it high.  If you dive down low,
that " dip " in the road will have you swapping directions pretty fast!!

As to the grip,  I find this track much more driveable that about 99% of the
others, with the exception being tally.  Yes, another Tally head.  But this
track is one that even I can drive, without the aid of computer breaking and
shifting.

Thanks for the tip - I'd seen the AI cars sort of doing that but
hadn't quite figured out how to do it. I'll try it a bit more. How
fast do you take it? I presume you have to slow down at least a bit
from 220+ MPH. ;-)

Agreed. Racing there is very challenging and dangerous, but drivable
and a great rush.

I for one take the turn-in at around 140-145+ mph. exit speed being around
155+mph.

My best lap so far is a 57,554 sec.
Any better?  (Just asking!)

My 2 cents.

Bull run is an excellent road course. Very easy to adapt to and race
competitivley.

Red Rock is a nice idea that really doesn't work out well in reality. It's
uneven, the turn left after the big dive is sloopily done, and a bore racing
multiplayer.

Uneven=can't find the right gear ratio and parts of the track your faster than
the ai and others your slower.

That's about the same as me, I maybe do it 10 MPH faster (it helps to
use a "slow" configed car that gives you extra grip on that corner).1

I'll have to check, not sure about that off hand.

Nope, you have to brake and downshift to 3rd.

Actually, I sacrificed the 220 speeds down hill for more speed across the
S/F line.  I top out at around 205 downhill ( red lamp lights ) and maintain
a lot of it through the curve.  Or at least I think I do...  to busy driving
to look at the speedo!

Since this track has a LOT of uphill, I changed my 3rd & 4th gears to pull
more than go fast.  I am still playing with it, but I am working my way up.
What is a fast speed here?  So far all I can manage is a 160.xx.  I changed
the 3rd and 4th gears, so I guess I gave up a lot of speed in doing so, huh?

I don't think I can ever go back to those ice covered tracks.  Red Rock has
certainly tweaked my interest in road courses.

You can get them at www.theuspits.com/files/bullrun.zip and redrock.zip.
I have not posted them "officially" yet, as these are early versions, the
latest
versions are due out this week.

Cheers!

Interesting, I'll have to play around with that. Would you mind
posting your current setup? I'm not very good at car setups, and I
don't even know where my N2 user manual is.

I don't know, that sounds pretty good - you're talking about the
uphill turns after the big downhill and turn, right? The best I've
maintained through there is I think 155 or so. But I know what you
mean about being too busy driving on this track to look at the
speedometer! Which is a real complement to the driving simulation,
that you can drive it that accurately by feel (can't wait for FF
wheels though!).
