Tonight's RAS race - appologies, etc....

Don't wanna be kicked outta RASCAR...

I saved the replay and here's what I saw of incidents I was involved in:

1 - I was staying very high, 3 wide, 2 inside touched and collected me.

2 - Spin on turn exit (my rear is bent up) - no-one else involved, no
yellow.

3 - 1st lap of restart - I'm on inside line as not on lead lap - leaving
room above, I guess #3's spotter thinks he's clear (I find spotter's slow at
Bristol) as he takes standard line, we touch - big one ensues.

4 - Didn't see Ed trying to lap me - watching replay I don't know how I
missed him in my mirrors, I really don't.  Complete balls up on my account,
but I don't think it cost him anything - just me, and I deserved it ;) Ed?

5 - Yellow flag came out, close pack, I clipped the wall coming out of four
(doesn't everyone do this from time to time?) got rear ended and there was
mayhem.

After 5 "moments" and 2 where I hold my hand up as the responsible party in
incidents that actually affected anyone, I got out of everyone's way and
quit.  Just as well, I s'pose because my connection died right after I saved
the replay...

And just so you know - no-one's as pissed off about my performance tonight
as I am...  with my commitments, I only get to race here and Papy open, and
Papy open is more about luck than racing...

Probably gonna stay away from Bristol for a while...

Sounds like a bad day at the office, Mark. Don't worry, your next race will
be better.

The game makes a monkey out of all of us at one time or another. Just keep
trying your best.

Thanks for the words, guys.  I guess I was just letting myself get too wound
up and that affected my concentration.  I also was taking it too seriously
as I was pissed off for ages afterwards...  Feeling a bit better now :)

Right now for me, it's about being there, not winning.  I'm just interested
in keeping my nose clean and seeing what happens.  I'm not experienced
enough online to go for the win, and thats what disappointed me yesterday -
I didn't keep my nose clean.  It's not like I'm wet behind the ears here.
Sure, I don't post much - I'm more of a lurker, but I've been around RAS on
and off since N2...

I'd say don't worry about it.  At our first Bristol race, I went high to let
the leaders by as I got lapped.  I rubbed against the wall, and the wall-riding
penalty kicked in.  It slowed me down probably about 40 mph.  The next car
behind had NO chance to react to my slow car on the straight, and plowed into
me.  After that, I quit the race.  Hmph - tried to stay OUT of the way, and
caused a major accident doing it... :(

Hey Mark,

calm down. Even Mr. Wintrip / Waltrip whatever his name is
tells us in the driving lessons that it is nigh impossible to
finish a race at Bristol without a dented car.

I referred to Bristol as the "Rocket Arena of Motorsports" in
another post, and maybe I would have caused mayhem if I hadn't
been too stupid to do the time zone conversion.

See you on the track,

uwe

What?!?  <string of expletives deleted...>
Did it even run the FIRST race?  I haven't checked the replay directory yet.

It's running the DeMONS2 launcher on a win2k system.  Maybe I need to reload
DeMONS?

I think I need more alternative line practise.  I find it pretty
difficult to stay high without a: wallriding or b: slowing to a
dangerous pace.  Bristol was a bit of a baptism of fire, though.
Well, actually it was my second RASCAR event, but Chicago was so
yellow ridden I didn't have a chance to cause trouble ;-)

I wouldn't worry about it AT ALL if I were you. At least you can admit
when you made a mistake..........most don't. :-)

The first race was okey.... and I even stayed on the server for the
transistion..  wilch looked all normal until aftert the "racewin" screen
("newspaper") was displayed....    After i hit enter - it just kicked me
back to the chat room...

Can you verify that it has saved the replay and exported the results?  (and
that these are okey!)

I'll have a look into the DEMONS software to see what it's all about...
(never used it :-)

May I suggest that until this problem have been resolved - one of us (I'm
willing to do it) get a boss password to your server and that it's simply
serut and running as a dedicated server - when you leave from work on Friday
afternoon...

That way we can simply log-on the serve in N2002 and setup/start it from
there..

If I won't be around, I can do that.  If I'm around when it stops(as has
happened before) I can log into it remotely and re-start it.  I *think* that
the times I've run into problems was when I set it up on a previous day.  As
far as I know, the times where I've set it up earlier that saturday, it's
worked fine.  Strange...

No, I haven't.  Now I need to find the info for the location.  Early senility,
man... :(
