GPL - Ultimate Race Pro - Setups etc etc (long message)

Can you please tell me if any links are broken or images fail to load?
thanks in advance fellow GPL'ers.

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

I did a 8:26 at the 'ring this morning (at 6:30am) in the Honda, I'll post
it on my site when I wake up sometime this afternoon. It was using Alison
Hine's Setup BTW, with no changes apart from fuel.

Also - I bought Ultimate Race Pro (by microprose) a while back, does anyone
else have it? I'd like to see what it's like to play that against someone
over the 'net.

- I heard someone say the other day that you can transfer a setup over to
another cartype from it's prefix? like i think the lotus one is .lo1? if I
renamed that to .mu1 would it work?

And.... it's time for Talladega once again, and the most awe inspiring sight
you're ever to see, 42 (43) cars inches apart, touching, drafting and
winning money, NASCAR at it's very very most exciting, I like restrictor
racing, how do other people feel about it?

Kyalami - what is the secret? I can do a perfect lap, 1:23, a ***lap,
1:23, an average lap, 1:23!!! I cannot go faster (or slower!!)

I like it at times - 21 rows of double-file traffic for the first 20 or so
laps!  As happened a couple of years ago.  Edge of your seat racing.  What I
*don't* like is the fact that no one can break away from the pack, like they
used to be able to do.  If you get out of the draft and don't have a partner,
the rest of the train just rolls on by...

Having said that, I *will* be rolling tape on Sunday... :)

Sorry to be a stick in the mud fellows, but I DON'T find
restrictor-plate racing exciting for the very same reason you mention
Eldred: <snip> "What I

That is why, even though they are inches apart at 190 mph, it is not
exiting to me. The driver might as well be a trained monkey (insert joke
about least favorite driver here) because the wind and the car dictate
everything. Sure, there is skill (and BIGTIME luck) involved with
getting in proper positioning. But even if you ARE in the proper
position, you still may not get a chance.

However, Bristol, Martinsville, Dover, Rockingham, those are tracks
where the driver CAN make a difference because they must brake, turn and
get back on the gas. And the 20X barrel roll is less likely to happen at
these places than Talledega... which I don't really care to see.

So, I guess I'm a mid- to short-track guy (road courses too), but the
BIG superspeedways like Tally and Daytona just don't interest me at all.

It seems obvious to me that the driver makes a huge difference, Dale
Earnhardt, Jarrett, Marlin, Andretti, Labonte (B+T) are ALWAYS at the front,
no matter what car or series they are in.

I  too prefer tracks like Dover, Bristol etc, but Restrictor racing has it's
own charms for me i suppose, and being in England, it's just simply SO
different to anything we see over here.

Tim,

Regarding your question about transfering/renaming setups. Absolutely! I
have come up with some pretty weird but effective setups that in some cases
only required gearing changes. I have actually used a Ferrari setup on the
Lotus! You can just change the file extension and rename it to the car you
want to use it on.
