I have one question, which is something I just want to verify. In the
demo you can only race in SVGA, right? I've tried clicking on 320X200
but it still races in SVGA. I just want to know because I'd much rather
be racing on VGA because it offers a better frame rate.

The Demo is ONLY SVGA

The demo runs in SVGA only but for me with every detail turned on and
just the 8 cars available, I still get a far faster frame rate than in
N1, it has been said the release version will run faster than the demo.

You are correct, the demo only plays in the SVGA mode.
