CH Pedals in TOCA

CH Pedals in TOCA

by Derek Clydesdal » Mon, 30 Mar 1998 04:00:00

Anyone out there using a set of CH Pedals for car control.......

I have had a set of CH pedals for about a year now - generally using them as
rudder or tail rotor controls in Sims.

Recently I have started playing TOCA.

I started using my CH Flightstick Pro for steering and the keyboard for
throttle/brake.

However, I would like to get a CH Wheel as TOCA is the most driving fun I
have had in ages.  However, I can't get it to recognise my pedals.  TOCA
seems to want the throttle/brake on the Y axis of Joy 1 - is this correct?
My pedals are on Joy 2 (one or two axis, depending on how the switch is
setup).

I have gotten them to work with games like Moto-racer and GP2, and they work
fine in Flight Sims.

Is there any way around this using some Win95 controller setup?

If I buy a CH Wheel, will it cure the problem?

I guess I could fix this by building some sort of adaptor?

Why did Codemasters not take this sort of thing into account when they wrote
their software?

Any thoughts anyone?

Thanx in advance.........

CH Pedals in TOCA

I've been using the CH Pedals in TOCA. You will have to use the
acclerator and brake on the same axis, ie, the y-axis, which means set
to `plane' mode. I use a Thrustmaster GP1, so I can't comment on the CH
wheel, but I can't see any problems there.

However, the direction in the single axis mode is correct for rudder,
but wrong for accln and braking. I hardly play flight sims, so I simply
reversed the connections on the pedal (which will void whatever the
warranty) and I can play all games which require single axis accln and
brake this way (F197, TOCA, CPR, Rally...). But they will be screwed in
flight sims. You could of course build another switch...

Cheers,

Stanley Chan
